ASW28 Fibreglass Electric Glider 2.53M (99.6in) ARF

I would be very interested to learn what power set-up (motor, ESC, prop and batt) other modellers are using in this electric glider.

Peter
   Kevin (79%)
Read the reviews...
   midair (61%)
Read the reviews? I must be missing something...in this thread, on a couple of occasions, modelers mention that you can stuff a 35mm outruner in the nose, contrary to the assembly/building instructions which state a 32mm maximum diameter, one fellow uses a "70A Turnigy" motor (no prop size mentioned, no batt size) and another chap talks about a 11/7 folding prop (no motor size discussed). These are simply bits and pieces of information and certainly not a power set-up recommendation/discussion. Are there available other reviews on this site that discuss this motor glider/sailplane?

Peter
   Beaufighter (-25%)
You can stuff a 35mm outrunner in it, but it requires modifications. It will not fit directly. Try looking at the forum ("Customer community" on top of page, then "electric motors and speedcontrollers"), there is a thread about it. Hope you find what you're looking for!
   midair (61%)
Hi Sander:

Thanks. The section on electric motors is quite helpfull and interesting. I am still hoping that someone on this forum can provide practical information and report on their specific system and how well it performed.

Cheers,

Peter
   Beaufighter (-25%)
And just after I told you about that forum section, the post was moved to a NEW section called "powered and non-powered gliders", but in short: For a 12X7 prop the TR 35-48 B 900 on 4S would be good (by Cris F)

Trying a link to the exact thread

Sander:

Outstanding! Thank you.
   Kevin (79%)
Sorry, I thought that the motor specs. were shown in the description or the reviews. I think that they are under the DG1000. Anyway, I use a turnigy about equiv. to a .25 to 30 nitro motor with a folding 12 x 7 prop..

how can i pay money for EMS additional shipping ... Because i took wrong shipping ( did not write that i must use ems when i was ordering it ) . I send mail to HC but still no answer .
   Sirius35 (100%)
better way will be to trying to contact HC again
   Domagoj (56%)
watch out , HC can't ship in some country's...

TRITON (91%)
...can only shipped with EMS. IMHO the lenght has nothing to do with the ability how to ship. EMS is only faster. Money is the power of the world !!
   Beaufighter (-25%)
Length of shipment (or actually circumreference, but length has everything to do with that) is limited in the international postal system, and is different for parcels and EMS. Hobbycity is in Hong Kong, most of their customers are not, so they have to ship with international rules.
   TRITON (91%)
Your wrong, EMS is only a simple weight-based rate plans (infos taken from the honkong post office homepage)

Tarmo (88%)
has enybody received this product yet?
If yes, please describe its quality.
   Levad (89%)
Quality is very good. Canopy looks like the weakest part of the kit but the rest is rock solid. You will have to spend some time building it though. Worth the money!

cgolin (58%)
Does this model have pre-cut ailerons? If so do the servos live under the wing or cut into the wing? Are there recommended servos for this model?

Maxim (85%)
when the sailplane is available on stock?

nameso (78%)
How strong are the wings? How are they made? What is it made of?
   Tarmo (88%)
I'm pretty sure that's the same model( FlyFlyModel- like the article code in Hobbycity : FF_ASW28)

1)Is there a video of this flying?

2) Can you convert the measuring units in Oz, and area loading in oz/sq.ft?

Levad (89%)
Any suggestion for a motor?

It states that a 32mm will fit but I could not find any.
   irish_lord99 (71%)
You'll need an in-runner. There's several on this site for use in EDF systems.
   Levad (89%)
Any idea which can be a good choice? Most motors have a 28mm diameter which may not be enough power to get this glider up.
   Tarmo (88%)
Look at the Swedish forum(lik above). 35mm outrunner should work too!
   Levad (89%)
Thanks! I already received the glider and figurerd that there are no issues in fitting a 35mm motor inside. Will probably put 400w motor spinng a 12x7 prop like I had on my MPX Cularis
   Spencer (53%)
Here's a similarly heavy sailplane with motor choices at nesail****/detail.php?productID=5380 I used the Medusa system, and it gave ridiculous vertical climbs with a 13x7in prop. The Multiplex system mentioned may give a more reasonable climb "speed", or you can try less prop pitch. Mine climbed at too high of a forward speed to be controllable (lots of loops). If you want to fly thermal duration events with limited motor run, these motor systems will rule the day in this sailplane.
   Spencer (53%)
Replace **** with dotcom in the above post.

irish_lord99 (71%)
What servos does HC recommend for this plane?

Tarmo (88%)
Found very similar glider from hobby-lobby ***********hobby-lobby****/asw28.htm

Tarmo (88%)
where is the place for battery?

Levad (89%)
Would like to see a picture of the motor mount

Felar Furlong (88%)
looks very attractive, but what motor will fit this beauty?
   Felar Furlong (88%)
and one more question: i hope the wings are detachable, or they don't?
   Jason5001 (4%)
Yes, they have blind-nuts in them, so you can detach and re-attach the wing.

bronya (84%)
Strange de******ion. I understand 3channel: throttle, ruder ,elevator. But why 4 servos? 2 for elevator and 2 for ruder? Can someone explain?
   Jason5001 (4%)
1 for rudder
1 for elevator
1 for right aileron
1 for left aileron
1 x ESC
1 x Motor
1 x battery
1 x Rx
1 x Servo Y connector
4 x Servo extention wires.
Im sure I have left something out...

3 Channel minimum, some people don't run with a rudder.
   bronya (84%)
Can somebody add picture of ailerons.

Also a questions, what's the spinner diameter fit this glider?
   magnusEl (80%)

Here is a build thread on a swedish forum:
****svensktmodellflyg.se/forum1.asp?viewmode=1&msgid=165681&page=&CurrentMainTopic=11

That is the same modell, but it`s not prepared for motor.
I dont know the spinner dia...

Magnus
   magnusEl (80%)
Change the four "stars" in the link to wwwdot....
   Kevin (79%)
The description gives spinner size of 38 - 40mm.

Jason5001 (4%)
Ailerons, yes.
Gliders are sleak featureless birds. Detail would be hard to get in photos.

wayne5 (68%)
do these have ailerons? They look nice, but not enough detail in the text or pics

fazerdreamer (76%)
seems to be a good sailplane..many other beauty planes from UH but the weight is tooooo much.!limits for my country is 3.00kgr....pitty...
   Ignacio (84%)
You are right...I´m having the same problem to bring one to my country!!!
   panagiotis (39%)
