Hi,
The Balance expansion board supplied with the charger is for JST-XH type balancer plugs. So you do not need any additional cables.

You may wish to consider the iCharger 208. Slightly more charge power on 18V . On 12V input (car battery or so), the charge power is limited to -270W. That would be 10A on the 1010B and 11.5A on the 208. Both should suffice to charge your batteries in 30-40mins though.

The balance board is not setup for this. You would need to solder your own balance wires and for instance plug into the 3 3s ports of the balance board. Only recommended when the batteries are also used in series, otherwise the balance phase of the charge will take forever,

You can handle a 10S Lipo with more then 7A charge current, a 9S Lipo with 8A charge current, a 8S Lipo with 9A charge current and any Lypo 7S or smaler with the maximum of 10A charge current.with the maximum of 10A.

I am having problems charging 2sx2 = as 4s I keep getting shorts (the port pins are melted...) .
Is there a sequence to plug the wires so they don't short? What am I doing wrong?
There are 3 ports for 2s, what is the reason for this? 2x2x2=6s? or one is to make a 2x2=4s and the other is dedicated to just single 2s?
I am sick of being in fear of a short every time I try to connect the connectors.
Please some one advice.

It should be possible to use the first 2 2s ports for charging 2x2s! Leave the third port unused. Thats how it is handled on other chargers! How do you exactly connect your 2x2s?

Ah, I think I see your problem! When you connect your two 2s in the wrong way you will get a short circuit! The first 2s pack has to be on the first 2s balancer port! the first 2s pack is the one which is connected to the minus-pole to the charger! I burned the 3s balancer port on my accucel-6 by connecting the balancer wrong, but I had good luck, I was able to get it running again...

Adding to the previous answer, on 12V both chargers have the same charge power, about 270W.
Only on input voltages over 15.5V can the full 350W of the 208 be used. For the iCharger 1010 this would be 13.4V for the 300W maximum.

It's best to have both packs at a similar voltage before charging them together. Make a series adaptor for your two batteries. The first pack of the series will go on the right balancer connector. You normally charge single packs from the left balance connector. And then set the charger to 10s. Keep the charge amps within the limit of your power supply.

I have found on RC Groups info that one can update this Charger with new software. To do this on 'older' chargers one has to follow instructions to add USB port connection. It also says that chargers since June will be equiped with fully working USB port. Is this true ? Arte the chargers in stock already equiped with it ? Yes, it will charge without any problem. Your described configuration demands ~120W and IC1010B output is up to 200W. You just need to connect them in both 4S sockets of supplied balance board. Note: my balance board came in a slim design, a little bit different from the square one of picture above, but it works perfectly.

Plug your lipo into the righthand balance port marked 'D' or 'E' for two and three cell, not 'D1' or 'D2' or 'E1' or 'E2'. they are for charging two or three packs together or 2P and3P configurations.
