what gauge is the wire that comes with the lights?
Chris (2 points) 20/10/2009
What size or kind of wire do I need to make extensions to fit my 50" wingspan?

Be aware of blank wires! I had to resolder my lighting system because the soldering was extremely bad.

Look at my thread:

or see the picture here:

Blank wires

This issue could cause a crash if a short circuit occurs during flight!

I have placed a schematic on the Receiver controlled switch to show you how to use the switch to turn off/on these lights or any product:

The switch is located here:

Thanks for the schematic !

Do you need a common ground? I have my RX power system totally isolated on its own 9V battery power supply.

Ive got a question. I readed that the channel have to be 50% that the nav-lights are working correct. My question is can I turn it off or on? And if so, can I also turn the landing lights seperate to the others ?
Jasper (44 points) 11/08/2009
Yes, that is right. But the ligts only take 0,01A or something, so i don't care whether they are on or off constant.

That's what I made. But now I can't switch it on or off. I only can switch between flashing green or red. So if you solder a new wire in, you have the version with 3 wires, but it's not switching on or off. I think i have to take a seperate switch.
Jasper (44 points) 11/07/2009
I think you can just solder another wire on the IC Board and make it in the Servoplug.

I received the Hobbyking version yesterday, the connector to the receiver only has 2 wires, power & ground. This is different than the one I purchased from my LHS.

I will be taking off the heatshrink tubing to determine if there is a solder position on the PCB that I can attach another wire to. Will post findings and pix if possible.

These lights are great. The version I have does have a 3 wire connection to the receiver. If you connect them to the Gear channel, you will have the red or green nav lights flash depending on the switch direction.

One could also use the Turnigy receiver controlled switch to turn the lights on or off using a spare channel..

Yeah rattlesnake i understand your point, that is true! 0_0
Jasper (44 points) 10/06/2009
There isn't any turning on and off. Stick to the left = green led flashes, stick to right = red led flashes. They're always on
  Reply:  RattleSnake (48 points);
You must have a different version jasper, because in the current one the green is solid. Its 2 red leds that slowly fade in and out.
Also moving the stick to the left or right does nothing, they stay on as normal.

Connected properly? Green nav. in the wing and red nav. in the wing should blink when giving stickmovement rattlesnake...

:p I want to make an Solarswitch (don't know the english word) so when it get's dark the lights go on :D

Like I said, the current version is different to the one in the photo.
There is NO 3 wire servo lead coming out of the unit that I received. Only a + and - that plug into the receiver.
You would need a signal wire to carry the input of your transmitter/receiver to the unit, which mine clearly DOESN'T have.
Im a bit annoyed as I only bought this product to use this feature.

This set has only black-red wires, no signal input... So no light changes when moving the Tx stick!
I opened the casing, installed a regular 3 wires servo cable. I removed the smd resistor (1k) between pin 4 of the microchip and ground, then soldered it between signal input pad and this pin 4(copper pads equipped!).
Now, lights change when the Tx channel stick is moved from center to extremes.
Hope this helps for modifying the set. Just use a 10watts iron to avoid burning the pcb...

How do you switch the lights off from the transmitter?
  Reply:  moller123456 (46 points);
You need to have a un-used channel

Could You please correct my email address from dwyer*aol**** to dwyer52*aol**** thank you
Jasper (44 points) 2/04/2009
Can i switch mode (like landing lights to normal lights) with my Transmitter?
