I want to know if this switch is usefull or not
   Helilover (50%)
Yes this switch is very usefull for retracting landing gears and other things like that
   victorwx1 (56%)
yes i'm useing to turn on lights strobe use gear switch/ and with the 10 amp max possible to launch rockets from heli or plane great switch and 7-10 grams it a steal
   jlanton (100%)
yes, if you want to install a on/off system like a light system controlled from your remote. Additionaly you have to check the wiring diagram, because if you are using a second battery to feed the aux system (the light in my case) probably it wont work at first.

So if the heli flies on 11.1V lipo 3S pack, I can't use this even if I plug this into one channel of the 8 Channel RX and then plug the navi lights into this switch?

The diagram in Annex ran without problem on a boat. One of JUMP have to be removed, if not to power the system, the lights will flash and only when you give the first command. The interesting thing is that when there is loss of signal or the TX's battery is weak, the lights flash even if you turned it off via the radio TX.

   jlanton (100%)
you have to put together the common, black wire, of the two batteries like explained in the mode 2 figure

Csaba (86%)
The most important for use. You can't use this switch with outsider battery. You must to use same battery for LOAD and the switch supply (BEC).
   jlanton (100%)
there is a diagram (a .jpg) in the page to use a second battery, you have to install it in a different way

I'm not sure what the jumper settings will do. Could somebody please explain? I'm only gonna use this to turn lights on and off. What voltage will this device kick out? The same as the attached battery? I'm gonna be using a 3 cell lipo. Thanks much!
   cardude (62%)
the jumper settings wil alter the failsafe mode (aka when the switch does not detect signal from the reciever. it wil either let the swich be at the last situation, turn off the swich, turn on the swich or make it alternate on / off.

the switch has two wires wich wil simply let the current flow through up to 10 amps and 30 volts. like a relay.

Can I use this to switch the plane of without an ESC??

I mean put it direct to the batery and the reciever?
   cdis2 (38%)
No mate, you can only control something that attaches to the receiver, like lights or a servo.
   viperasp (22%)
it draws power from bec/esc to work. the only thing you can connect to the battery directly is the power input cable, so it can switch power on/off directly from the battery to whatever you need except esc/bec. besides it would seem a bad ideea to switch off you esc with it ... in mid flight.
   snappy (83%)
It is not a switch to turn a plane on and off its for switching a function like bomb drop etc.
Hope this helps
   Everardo (50%)
yes, you can !
   onner (40%)
Yes. It takes energy to run from the servo connector it has.
   SVEINIVAR (50%)
There is no problem to use this without an ESC
   Pierluigi (63%)
No, this switch plugs into a free channel of your receiver (gear channel for example) and can be used for switching on and off a lighting system or the glowplug power of a combustion motor. It needs the receiver to be already on to be used.
Ciao!
   Blind Vision (55%)
yes you can, no problems there.

Hi... I have a 6 channel TX and 8 channel RX, will I be able to use this switch with my radio setup? Thanks
   karolpenconek (77%)
It depends for how many channels do you use in your model. Switch will use one channel in your radio.
   jjuan_de_dios@h (75%)
I used it in a 8 channel RX with my 6 channel TX ( Graupner MX12 )conect it in GEAR channel.
   angel1 (58%)
no you need at least 7 channel transmitter.
   Lonziz (66%)
This switch is used to control another device using another battery, once the Rx has been turned on. First, plug it into a switched channel. Electronic ignition or nav lights are typical uses.
   kf52t (11%)
If you have 1 spare channel on your radio, it will be fine.
   tensoares (67%)
You can setup it on one of your 6 channels in the transmitter and receiver. You will not be able to use the unused 2 ch on your receiver.

Im planning to use this with LED lights. Would it be posible to instead of connecting the load to the battery, connect it to another available channel in the receiver? So it would use 2 receiver channels, 1 to power the switch and the other that connects to the + end of the switch and to the - end of the load.... leave your feedback if you know if this might work
   Dangaras (51%)
Look at the Top of this discussion, I put a wiring diagram that shows how this is done using a Y-cable.

Does anyone know if when I turn off the radio and receiver, will the switch turn off too, or will it remains on and wasting my bateries? I will need to have a second on-off switch for the electronic switch?

Thanks

   Giorgio (90%)
I believe it depends on the fail safe jumpers configuration. Let them in off...
   nowinkk (82%)
Well, it looks like it can be used for remote switching the CDI. However, after looking at the recommended circuit where all negative must be in common even if you use a separate battery to power the CDI. In such case, will the interference from the CDI affect the receiver (as they share common negative)?
   coolbudz223 (50%)
yes it will turn off to

I have tried to mount it as a glow plug switch, and didn't work. I should have read before tronchaviones answer to yashiro....What can be used to this purpose? I thought to leave a glow plug heater on the airplane, and to control it through the remote control. Any idea? Thanks!

well it worked ok for me...
Now I have a glowdriver...
It works with 1,2V too...

Can I use this as remote on/off switch for the gasser planes' cdi? If this is possible, then it would be an added safety feature for my gassers.
   Sergiy (60%)
Yes! I use it only for remote on/off switch cdi. It is really useful and convenient

Most users would have liked this to work like a relay - more like a electronically controlled switch. This is an electronic switch. Meaning you have to bias the transistor properly to get it to work. This is a little more complicated than most people, including me, expect. I can make the switch work but it isn't what I was hoping for. I got a couple of them and I will be able to find a use for them eventually. These could be coupled with a relay to get the simple operation you may have wanted.

How many Volt does MIN become though MAX is 30V?
It did not operate in 1.2V
   alex.g (70%)
could i use it to switch on/off second servo via Y-harness?
   tronchaviones (87%)
Good point, Yashiro san. In fact, the minimum "switchable" voltage is well over 3 volts (about 5 volts to guarantee the continuous 10 Amp rating).

This is because the switching elements are two FDS6679Z P-Channel MOSFETs, in a high side common-source, common-gate configuration, whose low RDS(ON) = 13 mOhm is specified @ VGS = – 4.5 V, and the applied VGS through the circuitry is not greater than the switched voltage.

   BCBasher (77%)
Hurtful :( Does the plug and play cost less than $7?

Son of Paleface (92%)
IF YOU GET ANY THAT WORK ! ! !
   tronchaviones (87%)
Please, Ian, wait two days before returning it... Tonight or tomorrow I will finish testing and I will write a review that may help to get it working.

At the moment, I have made only a fast test of two of my four units, and they work fine (except Fail safe mode IV), although the wiring is atypical... You have to connect the load to the common ground, and the switch will be on the high side.

They have a hysteresis of about 200us. One of my units turn on when the pulse goes over 1700us, and go of when under 1500. The other one's switching points are 1400 and 1570us.

Based on the current/voltage capability this could be a good glow driver option. What do you think?
   mvarzoni (42%)
OK, I tryed it as a GlowDriver, it almost worked.
It droped the Ni-cd Load from 1,27v to 0,82v.
I'm not sure how many Amperes I have there, but 0,82v, is not enought for a glow driver...

   MarkD (72%)
Use it to switch a small relay then run the glow driver off the contacts on the relay. If you use the normally closed set it will turn on the power at less than half throttle. You will need a free wheeling diode to protect the switch from the coils spikes too.
   tensoares (67%)
Yeap. I Agree. I will use to do this function.

xylonite (99%)
Do you have manual online? Maybe can be fit to ignition gassser and to do this need to see the manual to cut the voltage in due using external battery.

Look at the attached schematic. It shows the easiest way to wire up the switch to drive a load that has the standard servo connector using a Y-cable.
