What is the maximum diameter motor to this fan?

It is 20 mm, the mounted inrunner fits exactly. You can substitute it by the EDF outrunners which also have a 20 mm mounting plate. Rotor is made for 2.3 mm shafts.

It is a brushless inrunner (3 wires) for which you need a brushless ESC.

Can I use this unit on my sniper pusher aircraft that I got from hobbycity?
I ask if this is the best EDF for it among the others.

The amount of thrust you get from this combo is a little disappointing, I think. I have seen people getting over 400 grams of thrust from a edf-55 combo.

In my opinion, we can only compare two EDF, based on the thrust, if both have propellers of identical pitch. The thrust is not an useful data by itself.
The same thing can be said about standard 2 blade propellers.

Carlos, that is a good point. However there are two metrics: the thrust and the pitch speed. The thrust is what counts on the ground, the pitch speed is the restriction to the speed of the plane. If your pitch speed is higher than the maximum attainable speed of the plane, then that factor hardly matters, and only the thrust parameter does. I think this situation is true for a lot of models, but please prove me wrong if I am.

yeh, your right, jelleB, But you're missing one important piece of the thrust vs speed puzzle. That is you want both thrust and speed at the same time. To get the thrust you need to go with a high C rating LiPo like 40c or the new nano tech 45-90c or 4s LiPo's to get the speed. Also the right motor to match your fans pitch is a must have. Too bad this fan/motor combo is 4s capable, but I am going to try this because it is a good deal and with the new nano tech lipo's I hope it will work for my application. Then I'll give it a review. It is easier said than done. It is hard to figure out all the factors and usually, it is "hit and miss" for me.
