I bought this fuse kit to my HK450 upgraded (metalic main and tail), the technical features are: motor: Turnigy E500 6T with 13T pinion, 3 HXT900 servos, 1 MKS 3311 digital tail servo, ESC E-pro 50/58 Ah with BEC, Rhino Bat 3S/2.125 Ah 20C, Futaba 8UAPs, GWS naro 6 ch receiver. Some flight data: Operational weight with Bell fuselage: 985 gr., Hover results: 25 Ah at 2.730 RPM, Max power: 37 Ah at 3.150 RPM, flight endurance Hovering: 4 min 48

Now I have modify my video and hope you can see the heli fall-down and swinged to right. It was because the ESC TR_30A auto-cutoff. see video "***********fliqz****/aspx/permalink.aspx?vid=0def4a86b6bb48108e66c931efc67859"

The Main Blades that came with my Heli are a little different to the Blades Shown in the pictures (just black with holes at one side. Additionally there was some (4) Stickers, and i don't know, if i should put them onto the blades or not. I'm also not sure, if these stickers become detached due to the high rotating speed of the Blades and the wind.please some hints.
  Reply:  tosihiro (17 points);
Mine is same hard plastic blade. I think I should not use stickers. I afraid to detach between flying.
But this blade looks like nice. I think it is tough at crush than glass roater.
Will Hobby City sell it?
  Reply:  tosihiro (17 points);
I am sorry I had overlooked disadvantage of it.It cant use without stecker.But I couldnt pasete it well.
I think it is ugly downglage.

This heli Kit is great but some parts also need to be improved. Eg. the fin material is to soft that when the tail wags, it also wags and clashes with the tail rotor cause some damage. See this pic: HK-450 IMPROVE
  Reply:  cooper (19 points);
I agree i have stripped the tail drive pulley spline on 3 helis from the tail fin flexing and hitting the tail rotor mid flight i now fly without the tail fin its better than lossing the tail mid air and doing more damage.other than that i highly recomend this heli it flies exelent
  Reply:  Yesyns (6 points);
For beginner it is advise to have tail fin fitted. Just replace it with a rigit fin otherwise he or she might have to buy another tail rotor for standby.

Hi, could you please recomend me a steup, not the cheapest one nor the expensive, something in the middle specially for someone thats new to 6ch helis,The batteries, which one lasts longer?Thanks!!!

Turnigy e500
Zippy Flightmax 2200mah 3s 20c
HXT900
Telebee HH gyro
fiberglass blades 325mm
11T pinion (with the e500, you need a 11t not the 13t that is supplied with the motor)
Turnigy Plush 30 amp
Metal Head/Tail assemblys from Xheli (EXI brand) for $39

thats my mid range cheap set up. It works great. If you live in the USA get spare parts from xHeli . com- the EXI 450 parts are compatible.

The supplied main blades where not very good quality. Luckily I ordered some carbon blades as spares. Not complaining because price was fantastic. I have 100 flights up now and I am glad I bought my HK 450.

Hi, the.HK 450/500?, I am using flights in program called ClearView, and using it to learn to fly. The T-Rex, models I found the T-rex500 model, much easier to fly. I normally have real-time 100 % auto pilot / Alevator/Eleator set at 50 %How ever in the case of T-rex450 ?, I find it a lot harder to fly?, I have two have real-time set at 40 % and auto pilot Alevator/Eleator set at 60% .

I read one of the posts, said that the HK.**- 500 was only really suitable for hovering and doing circuits. Under no circumstances should you try to perform 3D? Well, frankly at the moment I will be very happy. Just be able to hover and do circuits??.

Kind regards, Bob.

Hey Bob,

I purchased the HK450 with the recommended set up. (Turnigy E500, HXT900's, 2200mah 3s, etc) I had zero helicopter experience, and would recommend this kit over the 500. People say that the 500 is more stable, but it is also bigger, heavier, much more expensive up front, and much more expensive to maintain. For instance, you need two 3s batteries to fly one 4 minute flight, whereas the HK450 will go for 7 minutes on one of the 2200mah batteries. It is much more economical, and parts are cheaper when you do crash. My recommendation: Buy this kit and the recommended parts. Get a 11t pinion. Go to xheli. com and buy the EXI metal head and tail combo for 39.99, along with a variety of tail shafts and blades. If you are in the US, XHeli is the place to get parts. respond back or try to personal message me if you have any other questions. I would love to help. This heli is great.

In flight, this is fairly stable. It took my some time to figure out the gyro and flight settings, but now when i have a problem i know exactly where to look. Sure i crashed and had to order parts, but after 8-10 flights, I can fly crash free. the 450 is stable in the wind, and is (with practice) easy to hover. If you are learning to fly for the first time, make a big X out of two 2.5 foot long dowels (1/4 inch is good) with some 1.5 inch styro foam balls on the ends of the X, and then lash it onto the landing skids. This will save alot of crashes when you are learning. Trust me, it worked like a charm.

Halo HK
Where can I get the manual parts of your HK 450. Some parts are not enough described in the web such as the bearings and I don't know which ones I really need. Thanks
parramatta (6 points) 10/14/2009

Hi. HK -450 do you need to use E-ccpm All can you use M-ccpm As I find E- ccpm A bit difficult to understand? I have a spectrum D. X.7. Radio . With very little information in the manual? Hence my confusion?.

Kind regards, Bob.
  Reply:  mkplanes (45 points);
HK450 is a eCCPM. In your DX7, you need to first select the 120 degrees swashplate function. The manual helped me alot setting mine up, and if you still confused go to ***********helifreak****/showthread.php?t=11373 and there are two videos labeled CCPM setup part 1 and 2. Watch those and they will walk you through the process. If that doesnt help, they have a specific video for the DX7 on this thread: ***********helifreak****/showthread.php?t=41692

Good luck

Additional things you will need for this heli:
-upgrade tail blades, the stock plastic ones arent big enough.
-set of fiberglass blades (the 5 dollar 325mm blades from HK work GREAT)
-40 amp ESC, 30 is too small
-2200mah, 3s, 25C. The 20c Turnigy pack will puff up even after just hovering.
-The Turnigy E500 motor works great but uses a lot of power.
-Spare Parts. Order them now.

Have fun. I love my HK450.

So far the 450 seems like a really nice heli for the money. I have not flown it yet, I am 90 percent done with the build. Upon intallation of the blades I noticed some dihedral in the rotor, I striped a main blade/feathering shaft scew in the process, anyone know the exact size of this screw? Going to replace it with better quality one, since this is another "oh jesus" screw!
modeljunky73 (2 points) 10/12/2009
Hello all. Does anyone know exactly what size the main blade/feathering shaft screw is. I striped one while trying to eliminate dihedral in head. I think its in the blade grips. Would like to have a better quality screw for this, not only do they keep blades from flying off in flight, but if you cannot remove them, your head is pretty much ****!
sendorm (22 points) 10/10/2009
I just want to see the new 450gt.
downloader (111 points) 10/8/2009
The stock blades are really ****py. If I put them on the heli, they form a V like dihhedral on the plane :D from closer examination, the blades are wrapped...
francis (0 points) 10/2/2009
just ordered a hk 450.can someone tell me which additional items i will need? hh gyro,& gyro servo, servos,esc,batt,motor and gear, and any other items i will need to complete this heli. i am a newbee, and will appreciate any and all help. tnx frank
mkplanes (45 points) 9/22/2009
WHy is my heli stuck 'pending customs inspection'... its been like that for 3 days now. Anyone had a similar issue?
Justin_urke (2 points) 9/19/2009
an esay way to get the HXT900s in the fram is to take the bottom off the servo and they slide right in. then screw it back from the other side of the frame.
