There is a big discussion on US forums concerning whether these 2.4 GHZ radios have the FCC certified sticker on the transmitter.
I have several questions
Are they FCC approved and stickered.
What is the sticker code on one of the transmitters. Are they legal and approved for US use?
If they meet these criteria, there are a lot of US people going to be buying them, if not, they are illegal...and one should think twice before buying for US use as to be AMA insured , we must be flying a FCC certified transmitter/receiver.

Thanks for the answer beaufighter. I ´ll start looking for a Y connector. I will accept the fact that there will be the same deflections of both ailerons so the plane will probably yaw a lot more which i will try to compensate with more rudder.

You can create differential by having your servo-arms at an angle rather than parallel with the aileron hinge-line.

Hi Joran, that sounds pretty clued up for a newbee, thanks for the question though, i was wondering about seperate servos myself.I have a spectrum Dx6i that confuses me to bits and has broken 4 times in the 6 months I've had it. this is much nicer. cheers
Joran (1 points);
Hi Alan, iam a newbee with respect to modelgliders... I am a licenced 1:1 gliderpilot and also an aeronautical engineer so i ought to know a little bit about aerodynamics and mechanics :-) good luck with the y connector, mine works fine on an easyglider with hardly any yaw side effect caused by aileron deflections.. My experience with the easyglider: rol the plane to the desired angel, next stick neutral (rol) and kick in a little rudder along the whole turn. Its like a 1:1 glider which seems no surprise.
Joran (1 points) 7/05/2009
I am kind of a newbee if it comes to ailerons on planes but is it possible this Tx Rx system can operate the ailerons with 2 servo´s just with one channel on your transmitter (L-R on the stick). It kind of feels like this system isn´t capable of doing this... Hope you guys can help me out

Beaufighter (755 points);
If you use a simple Y-connector, you may use two servos on one channel. If you want differential or some kind of mix (flapperons etc), you need one separate channel for each servo.

Can the charging lead be connected to 240v AC or is it 110V? There is nothing written on the transmitter.
Reply:
Mustang Sally (715 points);
The transmitter will not show it. You will have to check the powersupply of the charger, this will normally state the input voltages it can accept. Additionally a 110V will have a different kind of plug.
ishady (125 points);
It is for charging the (rechargeable) battery inside the transmitter. But some guyz think its better to charge the battery outside the tx, using an appropriate charger, as a short circuit while charging will destroy the precious transmitter. My friend(s) learnt it the hard way.
Malfamartin (335 points);
I will answer your question Ashok! The transmitter can NOT be charged from any AC current! You have to have a separate charger if you prefer. If not you can use 1,5 alkaline (std) 1,5v AA batteries, or rechargable 1,2v NiMh AA batteries. The nfollow ishady's recommendation.
Gerald (0 points);
Very nice and simple tx/rx set. Would like to order a few for friend but the qty available shows -2. Any idea how quick they are replenished?
Beaufighter (755 points);
It is simply because this system has no advanced features (actually no features other than servo reverse and centering adjustment), and HC don't want the customers to buy something they then complain about in forums worldwide afterwards...
I'm new to RC planes and have just received from HobbyKing their 2.4 Ghz. transmitter + receiver pack. My question may sound stupid but, does the receiver need it's own battery to operate? If yes, what voltage should it be? I thought that receiver would operate with the energy received when I plug the connector comming from ESC in it's throttle channel in the receiver.
Thanks a lot
Regards

Mustang Sally (715 points);
Hi, Normally it should get it's power from the ESC. What ESC do you have? Is it not working? Regular power for the RX is 4.8V-6V.
Mustang Sally (715 points);
Conncet the ESC to the throttle channel on your RX. This should work as a power input for your RX as well. Follwo above instruction from Ishady/Albert for the binding. To connect the power to the RX simply connect your LiPo Battery to the ESC. You need to have the motor connected to the ESC for it to work properly. Be carefull with the propellor, it's better to have it removed while you make all your adjustments, the motor may start running during the process.
ishady (125 points);
HI Esther (a female R/C enthusiast? but I could be wrong..lol). If you ask whether the RX need its own battery, in my case: ITS NOT! Just plug your esc and the RX get its power from it too...in this case you have your own right reply...(seem no beginner at all). For the binding procedure, I hope you dont have to bind it because mine (2 of them) dont need to bind to its original TX.
mraha9 (24 points)
how to bind this tx & rx... need some help since already buy extra rx
thanks

(Sorry, I quote below from Albert. Please give Albert a point, not me. Thanks). ========================================================= Albert (49 points) 1. Install the battery to 2.46 transmitter and shut it down. 2. Insert the matching lines to the channel Bat port of the receiver. 3. Connect the receiver battery to any one of the channel- port, on the same time the two LED are flashing and this means the receiver are going to the match status. 4. Press and hold the button on the transmitter, and then switch on the power supply. 5. Observe the LED on the receiver, if found that the LED is not flash anymorc and that means successful matched. (This process about lOs) 6. Release the match button on the transmitter, take out the match line. 7. Install the server and then test. 8. If the tests fail, please repeat the action above. 9. If the tests success, then insert the power supply port into BAT, match complete. The negative pin is on the short side of the recver. E-mail me if you want the manual, it is for the 6 channel. The information is the same. samthemodeler*internode.on****

how can i use the Trainer system option? What do i need for using it?
Reply:
ishady (125 points);
This TX have no trainer option as it pointed at the specification above. If you need trainer port, then this TX is not for you. Please consider what you need before buying.

Thanks alot for the info Dominic!
ishady (125 points)
Good explanation Dominic. It's the same with ordinary TX I think? Well, with my lousy hand, I already broke 1 TX...LOL. Thanks again Dominic.
For those who are tired of bad english and poorly translated instructions. Here is how to bind the MODE 1 radio system.
1. Connect 8 AA batteries inside your transmitter and leave it turned OFF. 2. Connect your Motor to your ESC. 3. Connect your ESC to your Receiver on Channel 3. 4. Connect your Bind-Plug to the BAT channel. 5. If you want to test a Servo, connect a Servo to Channel 1,2, or 4. 6. Connect any good charged Battery to your ESC. You should here a beep from your ESC (some ESC's do not beep) and your Receiver's LED Light should start blinking. The LED is hidden under the sticker. 7. While Holding down the Bind-Range-Test Button, turn on your Transmitter. After about 3 or 10 seconds the LED will stop blinking and you should be able to control your motor and any extra servos you connected. 8. If not try it all again. I found that turning off my Transmitter and turning it on helped reset any errors. 9. Give me points if this helped. :D
Excellent Product. Binding was easy, following Trance123 instructions. One note, you have to have an ESC to do the binding, as the binding plug takes up where you would normally plug the battery in. Once bound, you can then power up as normal.

Hobby King 2.4Ghz 4Ch Tx & Rx
It is well made and works well! I have flown it at a distance of 500 metres with the range check button down & no problems. Very good value for money Oh so cheap, BUT it has twin receivers! This is almost unheard of in the lower priced systems.
I believe twin Rx to be very important. Why? Firstly I worked in the video industry for 21 years and it is common knowledge there that twin Rx is far more reliable in getting the signal through. If one Rx can't receive the other will.
To someone who is first time to 2.4Ghz you would need to look up the "binding" process on another manufacturer's site as there is no manual. I am using NiMh AA's successfully in the Tx and these can be charged thru the input jack from your usual charger

The package came to croatia after 4 weeks. It works very well ( and it s sooo cheap )! I ve tested it on range of approximately 600 m I was afraid to go more because my plane could crash.It has twin receiver antena,and that is a big plus! It has a trainer option so you can fly a plane on a simulator. There is only one thing that I don t like and that are the sticks , they are very slippery but for me it is still a big five.Highly recomended!!

Great radio and receiver. Don't know what the range is but all flights so far have been glitch free. As for the batteries, just use AA rechargeables as it has a charging jack on the side so there is no need to add diodes etc as mentioned by another customer. Highly recommended for most 4 channel applications. Thanks HC

I fly it in my F-18 from art tech (wing span cca 800mm weight cca 550g) ang works perfect without a mistake. Binding sequence ok just turn on the Rx hold the binding button on the Tx switch on the Tx and wait 5 seconds and you have it. Even 5 year old child will manage this process :-) As a starter Tx/Rx System excellent. From me have this product 5 stars for the quality and STRONGEST recommendation to buy for another people who are not decided to buy this product and are thinking about it.

Very good radio, with trainer connection. I use it for indoor, receiver can be as light as 4.9g: the second antenna is not usefull and plastic box is heavy. Trimmer are very more effective than on my older 72mhz low cost 4 channel tx. Binding is the same procedure than spektrum. As on my other low cost tx, I've replaced the 8 AA battery with a 3S 2200mAh LiPo

Bought this radio, converted to mode 2. I use it for a small park flier (approx. 45 cm wingspan). Use receiver without the satellite module to save weight. As my plane is small I cannot let it fly far away (otherwise I will loose it), and I did not perform a range check, so cannot say anything about the maximum working distance. But no glitches so far. I am really happy with this radio. The only thing I wish it had is a mixer for a flaperon/v-tail. Had to order an external mixer for my new delta wing.

It's true, relation money/quality its perfect. Its a well done radio, with a not so bad plastics. Its very easy to bind, and as a good touch feeling. Im using it with a Rock Crawler and i can tell you all that its one of the best radios i've use. Resistant on falling "walking in rocks sometimes end's in your face on the ground... along with the radio". Its not a state of the art radio but its almost there for the price.
Best Regard

Members of my RC boat club including myself have ordered a total of 5 systems with several extra receivers. All units shipped promptly, arrived quickly, and best of all all worked as advertised. I cannot believe there's a better unit even close to this price, even adding the shipping costs.
I recommend it strongly.

what a good cheap system , tried mine the other day worked fine . Will swap out my good spectrum receiver in mpx fox with this as the aerial out the back is a much better configuration for small models got more receivers and sets coming with fliers at my club here in oz blown at the price. be aware that there is an led under the sticker on rx to help with binding, find it and cut sticker away would be nice to see one with elevon mixing
