The weather in Hong-Kong must be really hot showing 32.6C

^^..
I just use this gear measer the heat engine's Temp-
broad outline...
   Ruben (47%)
They probably point the termometer to someones hand to take a measure. :).
   Antons (74%)
It measures by the means of infrared radiation intensity... Rather easy to screw up these measurements by stray light and etc. Point it to the sky - it can be -20 degrees C in the same moment.
   deerhunt (23%)
maybe some employee with fever are holding his/her hand in front of the Termometer :-)
   Miguel (63%)
As it is an infrared thermometer I think it could be affected by sunlight, test pointing it to a shadow.. it takes the air temp
   Gibleh (71%)
32.6C Really hot? Try living in Australia. 40C everyday of summer. *)
   TrevJonez (78%)
i took it in my garage and got 41 off of the door.

I bought mine a year ago. and now when i clic the red botton it says "Er 5" but i don't know what it means. someone knows? i already replace for new batteries and made the same thing.
   Jason5001 (4%)
Make sure the front sensor is clean.
   Giovanni (62%)
it's clean the right sensor and still appear ER 5
   eadward (70%)
Remove the battery, wait about 30 seconds then replace the battery. It will reset and work fine.

I can't wait that these get restocked :)
   Eric1180 (-53%)
They are in stock! Unless HK doesn't like you.
   Michael (19%)
i had one ordered when they were in stock, but i had to cancel my payment type so now i have to wait, hope they stock them soon, last item I'm waiting on, cant argue with the price though
   Miguel (56%)
Hey check it out, they are back in stock!!!

How do I find out about the size of the measuring cone? The angle of the measuring sensor?
   worldedit (67%)
I think i read 45 to both sides in the manual. Cant check because i threw it away.

Anyone know how to change from C to F?
   TomyOS (94%)

Not that it matters much but this item is priced at $9.95 in August issue of Model Airplane News.
   Jason5001 (4%)
That was the old version which couldnt handle up to 180DegC.
This new model can handle a higher temp (180DegC).

Francke (85%)
I want to know if someone already made the measurement and reached 180C ... so far the information I have is that only brand to 110C....
   magnusEl (80%)
The two I orderd 26/5 is NOT 180C!!!!
It´s the same 110C as the "old" one.
Why has HK suddenly changed the specification when it´s not a new version they sell....

I´m going to email support right now!

   dave18 (83%)
I lost mine so I am buying it again the highest temp I could read before it said "hi" was about 300 degrees far.
   Tim Lodu (63%)
Seems to work fine. Is there suppose to be a red light? There is no mention in any of the literature. But I have see other models that have a red light to point at a target.
   Ramir (69%)
I have got mine few days ago and after test and comparison with other type of infrared thermometer I can confirm, that this one mesure up to 180C and accurancy is very good.

TomyOS (94%)
I have one of this, but i have buy it 2 months ago. My can NOT mesure more than 110 C degrees. Is this one new version, or bad description? Can someone confirm this? I use it to measure glow motor's temperature and its not good 110 C is not enough.
   magnusEl (80%)
I have it on order, but not packed yet. When I recive it I will check if it can measure 180C.
It says in spec that it "now handles". I do think this is a new version.

   Francke (85%)
I want to know if someone already made the measurement and reached 180C ... so far the information I have is that only brand to 110C
   MegaTesla (74%)
Yes, they now measure up to 180C
   bill_proto (60%)
I hope someone from HC will clarify on the temp range. issit 110 degc or 180 degc? Now they have new stock. I'm going to buy one affter all this had confirmed

   Raven703 (37%)
I bought one recently, but it measures only up to 110C :(
   MegaTesla (74%)

Kenneth (62%)
Did you try replacing the battery ?
   Andrea (77%)
Yes, notihng changes. I'll send it back i think it's the only thing to do.

Andrea (77%)
Really graet little tool, but after a few hours it started displaying ' Er 5 ' on the display instead of the temperature, is it just a faulty item or is there something to do to make it working ?
Did anybody have the same problem ?
   Jason5001 (4%)
Maybe over-temp. Try on a surface thats not above 180degC
   eadward (70%)
Just take out the battery for a few seconds then put it back in and it will reset.

Thuc (72%)
the accuracy depens on the distance between device and object also, how is good? Pls recommend. Thk
   worldedit (67%)
When you point it at an object from a distance, infrared light from other sources can get to the sensor. When i measure my battery packs or esc i just tought them with the device.

purong (74%)
just for curiosity.... has anyone ever used 1 to measure body temperature if the pilot has a fever? let's say from to much flying and sun exposure....hmmm...
    James (60%)

Well, usually it's the flight attendant that gets the fever when she brings my inflight dinner. Shall I use the thermometer on her next time?

PS: temperature cannot be 'measured'. It can only be indicated on a thermometer, just like a watch can only indicate time because time like temperature is intangible.

OK, enough elementary physics...

Lets get back to the wonders of inflight meals...
   purong (74%)
in that case, would you be so kind and be a gentleman then to "discover" which part of the body it's most accurate in indicating temp. bring in the inflight meals.... i'd really like to know.
   Pasan (78%)
it records body temps fairly accurately if you use it in your ear, like how the docs do with their much more accurate IR thermometers.
   worldedit (67%)
When i put the device in my ear i get a bit lower temperature than with a normal thermometer in my mouth.
   Jason5001 (4%)
Yes, thats right Dr worldedit. Ear temp is slightly lower than body-core temp
   maukabud (52%)
Either that or your ear canal goes all the way through and you're measuring the temp of the wall. Heheh. *)
   ishady (63%)
All above won the best comedy...LOL
(its forreal and not sarcastic thou)
Btw,I just bought 5 for me and me pal.

Felar Furlong (88%)
darn, where you were a week ago, when i bought similar device for three times more price... :(
and as always hc gives us unbeatable price!
    James (60%)

Ahhh...Patience has it's rewards, just not in your case *)
   JelleB (84%)
Funny how all these people need to make comments about the accuracy of this device, but make no mention what source they calibrated it against. Maybe they just mean they like how consistent it is? (be it wrong or right, without calibration you never know...)
   ishady (63%)
Good point JelleB.
I will calibrated mine with ice cube and boiling water soon as I got them.
Thanks for the advice.
   maukabud (52%)
I'll calibrate mine on my ex...she's made of glacier ice, right to the core. :D
   ishady (63%)
HA3 got that mr.maukabud...
btw mine came yesterday
I MUST BE MAKE A MISTAKE: when I measure (this word could be wrong grammatically) an ice cube and boiling water, the led showed -13degree and 70degree Celcius respectively. My body heat showed between 35-36degree C which is normal I think.
Response will be very appreciated. Thank all you guyz.
   Majare (67%)
a nice Thermometer! I use into 6 mounts!
