Yes you can, but it would take about 10 hours. My 2 cell 1300 charges in about 5 hours. Spend a bit more money and get the Turnigy 420 Charger it's only $22.95. The 420 is a very good balancer/charger.

No. This charger charges at a fixed current (red light) until each cell is charged (green light). It does charge each cell separately so the lights will probably not all turn green at the same time. Also note that the charge current is fairly low, so it is not rapid by any means.

If the battery is fully discharged it will probably take about 4 hours or maybe a little more. It only charges at 650 mA. If the battery charged at 100% efficiency it would take 2200/650 or almost 3 and a half hours, and no battery charges at 100% efficiency.

You can not charge two batteries simultaneously 2S as the maximum number of cells you can charge with this charger are 3S. You could charge three batteries simultaneously from a single cell.
It is easy to use for non neceitar 12V, it works directly to the network and auto-detect the number of battery cells.
The downside is that it is rather slow.

The charger should be fine for one at a time. The charger has a port for a 3 cell and one for a 2 cell, but only one should be used at a time. You should NOT try to Y-cord or splice the batteries together to charge them. That would instantly equalize the batteries voltage to each other and very possibly damage the batteries.

I can't find the 180mAh battery, but you need to find the max charge rate (in C) for that battery. This may be 2 C. Multiply that number by the 180 mAh and make sure it is greater than the 650 mA charging current of the charger. I think you will need a lower current charger for the 180 mAh battery. The rest should be fine.

Well, all these numbers start to blow my head off! I ordered a Turnigy 1300mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack and this charger. I supposed it would fit, but now I get doubts: thebattery can be charded at a max of 2C, the charger gives 650mA, so I think it will charge at 1.95A, is that OK?
|
|
|
| |
|
Richo!
(50%)
Hey Krabke, the fact that this charger has an output of 650mA means that ANY 2s/3s lipo that you hook up to it will be charged at 650mA. The 2c max charge rate for your 1300mAh battery simply means that the maximum current that you can safely charge at is 2 x the capacity of the battery (2x1300mAh). Therefore the maximum charge rate for your battery is 2600mA or 2.6A. So to answer your question, this charger is safe to charge your battery as 0.65A(output of the charger) is less than max charging rate of 2.6A. Hope this helps, :-)

This charger will be fine. Details: 1300 mAh charged at 2C means 2600 mA or 2.6 A max (for each cell). The charger provides 650 mA (also for each cell). Charging or discharging at lower amps than specified will always be fine.

Just buy an adapter plug so you can plug it into the European socket. The voltage is the same 220-240 50hz so you don't need a transformer, all you need is an adapter. Just go to a hardware store, they are very cheap! :)

Guys does this come with a guarantee? Like if it breaks after a few weeks of normal use will I be able to return it? And how good is hobbycity's customer service?

I had charged my Rhino 1050mah 2S 7.4v 20C Lipo for the first time and it worked fine. After discharging, I tried to charge this battery for the second time, all the GREEN LED glows in the charger immedietly I plug the battery to the charger showing that the battery is fully charged. But after charging for over 2 hrs, the voltage in the battery shows only 1.4V. Any idea what is going around?

I suffered the same issue today. I can't tell what is going wrong. It seems that the charger flips to standby. Maybe he doesn't 'see' the battery? I'll try to hook on a 3 cell battery today and check out if he does that well.

I bought two of these chargers and one of them makes a buzz and a "beeep" when I connect it to the electricity. I'm afraid to connect the battery to the charger, so I don't know if it works. Anyway it shouldn't make any noise.

so, there are 2 sockets on the end. Is one for plugging in 2S and the other for 3S?
thanks John

I figured it out. Instructions are written on the bottom of the charger itself. Large socket for 3s, small socket for 2s.

I actually ran down 1000mAh15C 2S cell by mistake had connected it to the receiver overnight :(. When i try to recharge with this charger,I see one only one getting charged which turned to "Green" after sometime. But the cell2 is always having "blinking RED". What does this indicate? has the battery2 gone bad?? Please help

Hi Ashok It sounds like you may have cooked one cell. When it blinks like that it could be a surface charge only because of a higher resistance. You can try a few seconds of 15C discharge on that cell only to break down the wiskers. then recharge. Worth a try. Fred E

ppl, can this charge 500mAh battery? or would it be a problem because this gives out 650mAh

It may be a problem, to put it that way... You should not charge at more than 1C unless your battery is rated for higher charge current, but it will probably work. Shorter lifecycle and shorter flighttime (due to the charger reaches full before battery actually is) will be the direct result, and beware that fire or explosion may occur (as allways, but more likely when overcharging).

Hmm...actually I have ordered 3S 15C 500mAh and 2S 15C 1000mAh batteries from this site and this charger. May be I would just use this charger for the second one. Is there any charger where we could adjust the output Amps while charging different batteries.

All computer chargers are adjustable current, but they are more expensive and usually require a powersupply.

Hi there, do not use this charger for your 500mah 3S or even 1000mah 2S. They are supposed to be charged at 0.5A and 1A respectively, maybe an additional 10% current is fine.
The charge rate of this charger is 650ma per cell, meaning it will charge at 1.95A for your 500mah 3S, and 1.3A for your 1000mah 2S.

wxhuang0: please read again what you have written. Charge current _per_cell_ does NOT add up - each cell is charged at the said current, since the cells are connected in _series_, not in _parallel_.
*Ashok: you can charge the 1000 mAh battery without worries. However, DO NOT charge the 500 mAh packs unless you're looking for a nice smoke bomb :D

Does it come with charging wires and connectors? Price is good, but I have to agree that the current rating is low for most of use to use.

Hello if you haven't noticed the battery has the extra wires sticking out. Those go in the socket on to charger.

***mer it's only 650mA (don't be fooled by the "per cell" that's true of all chargers.)
Of course, this is cheap, so you could buy several and run em all at once, but if they made a version for up to 2A it'd sell *really* well.

I would agree with that, as there is little use in a charger tha max's out at 650mA. If it did 2A I would buy 2-3 (as long as the price is right, of course)

you guy make no sense why would you need it fast charge this is meant for the home. Then you couldn't charge smaller batteries. Fast charging for no reason doesn't help extend the batter life.

Charging at 1C is not considered "fast charging" that's just "normal charging" so for any batteries over 650maH this is not the right charger. When you bring 8 batteries of 2200maH back from the field, you might want to charge them all back up and go fly some more. A 2A charger would be ideal.
