hexTronik Lumifly 2-port Glow-Driver
hexTronik Lumifly 2-port Glow-Driver

Now you dont need to stop flying when the sun goes down!
With hexTroniks glow-wire system you can outfit your plane with unique, lightweight and colourful neon glow wire lighting, allowing you to fly all night.

The Glow-wire driver connects to any channel on your receiver and will drive two 1.3mtr long neon wires. The neon wires are flexible and can be moulded to any shape.
The driver weighs around 8grams and is extremely small. You can even connect several drivers to the one receiver for an unlimited number of lights and colour combinations.
The hexTronik glow-wire driver has been carefully designed to minimise noise and maximise the illumination with any given receiver voltage.

To use the glow wire system, simply plug the driver into a spare reciever channel and plug the glow wires into both ports on the driver*.

The hexTronik Glow wire system is extremely easy to use and creates an exciting dimension to any R/C flight.

Glow wire sold separately.

*Always connect both wires before powering the unit. Do not disconnect wires until power is removed from the unit. Running unit with only 1 glow-wire connected may cause the controlling chip to burn out.
Always change jumper to 6v if youre using a 6v power supply. Failure to do so will result in the chip burning out.

if i use only one glow wire, dose it die?
   tano (67%)
no you can use with one or two glow wire. The glow wires have very low light. I use it with 3 V LEDs.

Has any one received a new Improved unit. I want to get this but not with the problems the old one had. But i haven't seen any new reviews.
   Dominikm (87%)
I can confirm that I have received the new unit. It is smaller and brighter. Not quite as bright as the Align driver, but still considerably brighter than the original. The switch still works the same.
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.

Thanks.. That's good to know.

Which pins are the 4 volt and which are the 8 volt?

Why everyone says Align is brighter that this? Where is the problem?
Also, Jason said something about new version in January.

Hey guys the Glow driver I just got today is not like the one in the picture, its small and kinda looks like the HXT 3A BEC now. the lights are bright when I switch the jumper to the 7v setting! mine has a 4v and it looks to be a 7v??

What are the two brightest colours?

David (50%)
OK smart guys, how about using one glow wire when powered by one lipo cell to the receiver?
   David (50%)
A small indoor flyer only has room for one glow wire. It would probably fly ok carrying the weight of one, also. Indoors in the dark, yea. Think I'll burn the controller?

alex.g (70%)
I heard these effects servo, those are glitching when this unit is turned on.
Anyone with that problem?
   Canamflyer (66%)
I don't have any glitching problem, even on my T-Rex 450
   Viper DaSnake (17%)
Mine glitched. I put a ferrite ring on the voltage input
(like what you see here:
***********hobbycity****/hobbycity/store/catalog/TR-UBEC15.jpg )

This is no where near as bright as my Align Drive/Glow wire setup.
I had one dead wire, out of 6.
Other than glitching, I didnt have any issues with the driver...

Alan (73%)
Mine, like many others have reported only lights up one glow wire (other port faulty).Does this mean I will suffer premature failure on the working port and can I have a 50% refund, lol?
   David (50%)
Have you used it on one glow wire, and if so, what voltage to the receiver?

slumberjer (88%)
come on..restock..like 1 million unit..this sure sell fast..waiting..waiting..waiting...huhuhu

Red_cat (67%)
Someone tell me what the current consumption from the device with two Glow Wires ???
   bigsteve (-6%)
Sure will as soon as I get mine :)
   professorfate (78%)
The Align version with 2 cold light strings uses about 100mah. These glow wires are much dimmer. If the light output is any indication, I would say these consume about 25 or 30mah. The glow wires are much brighter using the Align driver, although I haven't tried it for more than a few seconds.
   luckysoul (68%)
able to update if the glow wire is able to use with the align driver for a longer time?

(Jo) (44%)
Is it only powered by the receiver or can it be switched on/off by remote?
   bronya (84%)
It's only powered by the receiver or batteries. As you can see on picture only two wires go to receiver + and -. If it were three wire you could on/off by remote.
   Fugitive_Bill (72%)
Good thought. I'd be willing to a little more for a version that could be controlled via the radio. Perhap Jason could suggest this the maker.
   Jason5001 (4%)
Admin in the discussion forum's said that a v2 is arriving in january with this feature.
   Canamflyer (66%)
If you use a receiver battery , you can add a 3-wire switch harness for On-Off. Receiver is just a male plug source for the driver between flight battery and lights.

luckysoul (68%)
will the next restock be enough to cover the backorder and with a lot left for order too?

luckysoul (68%)
so fast out of stock? when the exact date of restock. hope hobbycity restock in high amt this time.
   Jason5001 (4%)
Yeah, they sold them super fast.
Forum notes say the manufacturer couldnt make them fast enough and new stock is due before end of month.

bronya (84%)
Sorry people, last question :) What's the frequency of this driver? Align has 6 or 8kHz.

bronya (84%)
I think i can use Y-cable to power up two drivers from single receiver port.
   Jason5001 (4%)
Yes, you can. Just dont overload your Rx with too many on one channel.
   pudytat (98%)
The jumper is to daisy chain multiple drivers.

bronya (84%)
I see the jumper on the picture. What is it used for? I order this unit, hope it has some manual included.
   Jason5001 (4%)
No Manual. No need for a manual, it's a no-brainer.
The jumper is to change to 8V for people who want to run it off a battery directly. When run off a battery directly up to 8v the glow wire is brighter.
   bronya (84%)
How about the button on picture, below jumper?
   Jason5001 (4%)
The button is for*
CONSTANT ON
FLASHING
OFF
   pudytat (98%)
The jumper is to daisy chain multiple drivers.
   Jason5001 (4%)
No, thats not correct.
The button changes the light to flashing, constantly on or off.
   Jason5001 (4%)
And the jumper changes input voltage selection.
   Hyphen (68%)
So the basic jumper position (delivery status) is for 6V or lower (4,8V) and the other position for 8V (2s) input?

Red_cat (67%)
What is the current consumption of devices?
   Dominikm (87%)
I had two units with four strings running at the same time. They were drawing about 120mA total.
