i made a stealth f-117 6mm depron and i'm going to use this motor with 4.75x4.75 propeller and 70 amp esc... i don*t know yet if 4s would be ok.. my jet will be weight about 550 or 600 gr complete... let me know if anybody has watt meter for this motor...

can someone tell me, it has 3.00m Shaft or 3.17m??? Many people many different opinions....
   CHRISTIAN053 (23%)
il y a un arbre de 3.17 bon vol
   UrsusRF (28%)
3mm = 3.17mm. There is no 3mm shafts.
   Realkorky (78%)
The shaft is 3mm unfortunately...
But not too big deal with the 0.17mm difference. 3.17mm pinions works ok.
23/06/2010
garth (34%)
Is there a replacement shaft somewhere ?
   TrevJonez (78%)
i also need a spare did anybody ever find one? it looks like its 55mm long and is 4mm with the end milled down to 3.17. hoping i don't have to trash my motor because of a 2$ shaft getting bent.
18/06/2010
Realkorky (78%)
I just received my order. This motor is definitely not what i bought last year. Different than in pic. Even the size looks smaller than it was, but im not sure. Shaft looks 3.17 . I havent check the performance yet, i will inform when i do. The one i bought last year was a perfect motor with a perfect price. I hope this wont disappoint me.
   SceneSnap (50%)
Let us know how it works out, last 2 reviews kinda scare me, I ordered one as well.
   maestros (50%)
Actually yes, i saw many good reviews and ordered that motor, and now i see these last two reviews.... i'm quite scared too...

Can I use 4s lipo on my HK450. Wich ESC do I need?
   canus (82%)
Tres bon moteur sa pousse tres tres fort
   AEIOU (60%)
i recommend at least a 40 amp ESC
   Riff (45%)
~60A I think should be sufficient if you need to use at full power.

I = 700W / (4 x 3,2...4,2)V = ~54A max power for servos Rx etc
   jacost (50%)
60-85 amp esc.
   Tatnorway (8%)
I will recomend an 50-60A for your 4S. I know people use 4S but i'm not sure how it works. But I guess it works great! Give it a try and post the result here :)
   Deano (69%)
You won't need a 4S, 3s will be plenty (2200mah 3s is a good choice). The Turnigy Plush 30A will drive it (it has a 40A burst capability)
   Cars Services Porpora (72%)
Ottimo motore perfetto per hk450,a biosogno di un esc da 40A
   mutlu_tekir (43%)
yeah you can use this motor with 4S. if you look features of esc that support 4S lipo, you can use it. generally most esc s are supports 4s lipo.
   yoggi (60%)
I more recomend 3S with 3700kv, if you want to run 4S go down to 2000kv
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   Riff (45%)
You can use 4s but be careful of really high RPM! Your hely mechanics has to be absolutelly balanced. I have the motor and I like it. I will use 4s but 75-80% max throttle. NB! do not use 13T pinion too high head speed, I lost 2 back tail shafts - little mis balance and it bent the shaft like crazy...

skywalkie (72%)
I have an 3000mah 20c lipo and a 60amp (80 burst) esc. Will this motor be ok with this set up? I`m using it on a funjet with prop sizes 4.75 x 4.75 and 6x4e? Anyone know what sort of performance i may get?
   Heike (72%)
*skywalkie
i have that motor in a funjet too, i use it with the 60amp esc and a 4.75x4,75. the 6x4 is to tall for the esc. 4.75x4.75 is the max possible prop.
   bassman2914 (61%)
got one of these on 4 cell. The stats are optimistic and on a 4.75 x 4.75 prop i should've gotten at least 160 mph but i think i only got 120. Go for Turnigy B36-40-05 3900kv Inrunner on 4s. A guy says he got 198mph on 6x5. If you do this get hk 100amp esc and a battery that's at least 3000mah 30c.
   panxgtsb (75%)
prop = apc 4.1x4.1, 3s battery * 12v = 244km/h 46,3amp 890g thrust 39000rpm, i don't recommend 4s.
   yoggi (60%)
it epend of the number of cell of your battery! with 3S it will work fine *)

Wich timing for this helicopter motor?
Low? Medium ? High ?
   aerofreak (66%)
Medium.
   muddyfox (29%)
High **> YES
Medium **> YES
Low **> NO
I've tried both settings, I couldn't feel any difference.
   Riff (45%)
Depends on your ESC but usually medium should be ok for heli because of pole count.

Has anyone measured the ACTUAL KV of this motor? Turnigy motors seem to be off by a few hundred in either direction!
   -AGJ- (65%)
I have measured 44366 rpm at 12.2 V and no load.
kv = 3637 rpm/V

What sort of hovering flight time you guys get out of this motor on 450 heli?
I only get 7min indoor hovering with 40A ESC 2200 3S battery.

This one has 700W power compare to E500's 200W power, whats the 'watt' for?
Torque? I'm a normal flight kinda person.

cheers,
   xero67156 (52%)
It is how much power the motor can handle before it fries. Amps times Volts equals watts. The E500 is actually more like a 300 watt motor. It is underrated. 7min of hovering time is about right for your setup. I get about the same with the E500 because the current draw is about the same between the 2 motors when hovering. About 10A with the proper throttle/pitch curve. I've seen this motor recommended over the E500 for hardcore flying using a 60A esc and a 4S1P 3300mAh.
   miketommer (48%)
I get about 10 min hovering on a 3000 mah batterie.
   Deano (69%)
7 minutes is all you can expect to get hovering. When I fly 3D I set my timer for 5 minutes and take out around 1800mah.

How do I know which wire is which?
:)
   Beaufighter (-25%)
Why do you need to know that? It is a triphase motor, no + or - on it, just connect. If motor runs in the wrong direction, change TWO of the wires.
   Rowan (72%)
Thanks for the info! :) Not very clued-up here! :)
   Deano (69%)
Just wire them up - if the motor goes the wrong way then reverse two of the wires.

I would like to mount that motor instead of 540 size motor. Will the mounting holes fit?

Could anyone measure the dimensions of the mounting holes?

Thanks in advance.

kstmark (70%)
If 700w is true for this motor, the maximum current should be about 58A-63A. So 30A esc is too small

Hasani, use the HK heli pinions for this motor, from HK heli parts *#Hobby city.Tony Vella

has anyone used this motor with a Super Simple 30A ESC I got one and It doesn't seem to have enough power to spin up the head with blades on it... starts off jerky and then quits around quarter throttle... im looking for a good ESC on a budget some recommendations would be appreciated
   xero67156 (52%)
The SS esc isn't a good choice for motors with a KV rating over 2200-2300 RPM. It is a timing issue.
   EdHall (38%)
I did not see anything near that hovering, was around 12-15A, Max logged was 27 peak.

I did blow a Plush 30A speed control though, burned the lead right off one of the motor wires in idleup1. ESC DEAD!

Use a larger ESC!

Is it possible to change the position of the shaft?

catdog79 (80%)
Doesnt matter plug in like u want. If the motor turns in wrong direction, simply change 2 wires.
17/04/2009
Peter (72%)
How do you know which wire goes to which wire on the esc? All 3 wires from this motor are black with no distintion? excuse my ignorance, would appreciate some help.
   grnbrg (79%)
There is no "correct" (or "incorrect") order to the wires. Just plug the three motor wires into the three ESC wires, and give enough throttle to check the rotation. If the motor spins in the wrong direction, swap any two wires.

What timing should I use with this motor ? Low timing ?
   Crashinbash (80%)
How many poles does the motor have? considering the high kv value I'd probably run it mid to high timing.

motorhead (87%)
The screws that came with this motor are too short to secure the motor into the motor-mount of my Trex SEv2. Anyone knows if i can get longer screws for this motor in hobbycity? A link would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :-)
   Crashinbash (80%)
I posted a request for shoulder screws for all red/blue turnigy motors for heli's. I have the same problem with my belt cp and king 2.

doyouflytoo (89%)
Has anyone had a problem with vibrations from the motor only at certain rpms?
My first one was smooth except for one tiny rpm range vibration. My second one is unusable. A buddy also has one that is unusable. Any fix ideas?
   Matthew (75%)
I have had 3 of the 6 magnets come loose on my 2836- 3200. I removed the e-clip, slide off the can, and glued the magnets back into place with CA. BE ADVISED!! The orintation of the magnet is important! You have to make sure the poles are alternating for the motor to operate properly.

Racer38 (99%)
All you need is a 30A ESC for this motor, The Turnigy 30A Plush ESC works Great on a Helicopter set up
