I own a Turnigy Accucel-8 charger/balancer, and I have problems discharging NiMH-cells. When I connect the charger to the battery and chose NiMH discharging, the charger just says 'END' after a few seconds without discharging the battery at all. I have no problem charging and discharging LiPo-cells, I only have problems when discharging NiMH-cells.Do I need to use some special settings when discharging NiMH-cells? I've tried with different cells and get the same result everytime.(I enter 1,2v and 0,3A in the discharge-settings when discharging a normal 1,2v 2300mAh battery - that's the correct settings, right?).Hope to get good answers...Esko79

Read two posts up(12-30-09 post) to learn how to charge your 2-cell battery! The method to charge 2-cell LiPo's wiht this charger is probably listed at least ten times in this thread.

According to Jim in Reviews this is how to get 2s to balance.
"Btw, this charger DOES balance 2 cell lipos, just shave the guides off the balance connector and insert it into the far right 3 connectors on the 3 cell slot!"
Has anyone tried this?
Or is there an adapter that can be bought to balance charge 2-2s through the 4s port? If so link please as I am unable to find.

I just plug my 2 cell battery into the 3 cell slot. I used a hobby knife to mod the slot on the 3 cell slot on the charger. Instead of cuting the tab of all my batteries. It works great and I still can not plug the batteries in wrong. FYI

Hey, I had a funky thing happen to my charger today. I was charging some 6s 5000mAh packs, and I looked over at my charger, and there were some weird characters flashing on the screen. It looked like Chinese characters along with the Omega Symbol. I unplugged it from my PSU and reset it, and it seems ok now. Its set up for english, should I plug the charger into my computer? Are there any updated for it? It charges my packs fine, but I'm worried to walk away from it while its charging. Thanks in advance.

I bought this power supply for Christmas. Has been used outdoors, -5 C frost, has worked without problems (5-7A). At home, problems with temperature, seems to me, after few minutes of charging, there is something like BSD Windows screen and Chinese characters. Should I turn and turn and even then he invites to the end without problems. This problem he is experiencing in the high current (+5 A), I must also in such 2 A Try

Had a similar problem with a imax b6ac, seemed to be linked to loose balance connections on the charger (they would move around with a little force) the weird characters would appear then. it was very sporadic, sometimes appearing randomly - exchanged the charger and haven't had the problem again.

i encounter some problems with this charger. one of my LiPo's does not charge. I recieve an error: "connection failure"that same LiPo on a different charger has no troubles. when i google, i found more people with this same problem. anyone know how to solve this ?

I have planes that req. 2-4cell packs in series, does this charger allow me to use the bal taps from rhinos, and flightmax packs to charge and balance 2 4cell packs in series while balancing them???

My 8150 does not count minutes correctly.The safety timer is programmable up to 720 minutes. If you have the safety timer programmed for more than 255 minutes, it will only count to 255 and then starts over again at zero. This sucks! You need to know how many minutes have passed.Have I got something set wrong or do I have a defective charger?

Hi.
Has anyone solved a problem with the display? My charger shows unknown characters after pressing the stop-button. Sometimes the displayed chatacters clear away. Then you have to plug out and on again.

I bought this charger to add it to my dynamite prophet so i can have two chargers for weekend running and I found myself replacing my prophet with it. This chatger is a dream come true especially for the price. Comparable chargers normally 2 to 3 times the price. This charger makes light work of NIMH batteries even 5000+ mah packs highley reccomend picking one of these up you wont regret it!

Hi all. If you are looking at some uber-expensive Hyperion charger or something similar..... do not waste your money! This charger is $70. An equivalent charger is up to $300. This is better than a lot of chargers that are more. Amazing value for money! Not just that - it actually works very well as well. I use this charger for everything, it works every time. When i have thought it was broken, it turned out to be the battery. The saying 'you get what you pay for' has been absolutely abolished by this magnificent, brilliant charger!

I was looking for a good charger to charge my 6 cell 10000 mah fast.
The Turnigy Accucel-8 charges the pack in less than 2 hours (6 Amps), and it continues to work well even if the power supply's voltage drops to 10.2V.
I have seen chargers that reset when voltage drops below 11V.
Its design is very nice as well, and it comes with a set of charging wires for different connectors.
There was no manual in my package, I had to download it, however it is very user friendlly.

I Bought this charger because i tested a friends one and im really happy with it!!!
Best Price, excelent accesories.
You can charge really a123 at 7 amps!!!! this is 18 minute charge on 6s1pa123 pack
First i tested the Balancer, it works fine. Holds each cell at exactly 4.2V during charge. I didnt expect it to be that accurate.
You can set the minimum input battery voltage between 10 and 11V so you wont run your car battery dry.
Second tested the output voltages with my FLUKE tester. In a fresh charged pack in BALANCE mode, the results was:
6s1p 4000mah lipo
4.20 4.20 4.20 4.20 4.20 4.20 CHARGER
4.201 4.199 4.200 4.203 4.201 4.210

So there is an excelent balancer too!!!!
Third the temperatures of the internal circuits, never raise over 40Cº in a 5amp discharge, it seems that the cooling design was good
PC conectivity needs drivers and you can download the manual too if you haven´t one
My overall opinion is that this unit works very well, enables accurate charging, comes with just about every connector you might need, In both quality and function it is comparable to units costing 2 to 3 times as much.] Several of my friends are currently considering purchase of these now because of the great overall value. I would purchase another one without reservation especially in light of the cost to performance ratio. Absolutely incredible. I will be making more purchases from Hobby City.

Yes this does piss me off. The charger is a lot better then my expensive Bantam 6-10 in voltage accuracy. All cells 6s1p reach exactly 4.2 volts and are perfectly balanced. The bantam stops at 4.17 to 4.19 volts. Just wrote bantam an email for explanation. This charger rocks its just the price that is to low to be true. Nice quality and lots of nice cables.

Great charger.
Used it for my LiFE batterys.
BUT... after a couple months I can no longer select the LiFE batteries in the menu... it has disappeared without reason!!!
I can do no software update because the usb connection didn't work.

This charger is AWESOME!!! I couldnt believe the specs when I first saw it and was very nervous about ordering from hong kong (Im in US) but it turned out to be one of the best purchases Ive made yet in r/c.
Btw, this charger DOES balance 2 cell lipos, just shave the guides off the balance connector and insert it into the far right 3 connectors on the 3 cell slot! I'm currently watching the carger on my computer through log view right now!A+A

The charger works and does a good job at balancing the packs. I don't have a problem with the charging aspect however it is very frustrating that this is the only charger which list discharge rating as 0.1-5.0 amp with out a max watt for discharge. IT does have a max watt during discharge - 25w. What battery pack are you going to discharge at 5 amps? A 5volt pack!
Please update the product listing - 25w discharge only.

Charger programming is very intuitive, have not yet needed inst.
This charger is very customizable too. The beeps mentioned can be turned off, and the screen brightness can be changed from bright to off in 10% increments.
Memory setting is GREAT. All my batteries are numbered now-in the charger I've saved the mAh for each, and the rate of charge for: fast, normal, slow, storage and discharge rates. I tell it which battery, and hit start!

I have foun an alternative software tool that will work with this charger and Windows Vista. It is called LogView v2.4 and is available at http://www.logview.info/cms/e_logview_info.phtml
I chose the Bantam e-station BC8 as the charger model which seems to work fine.

I got the charger when it was on sale and bought it on impulse. It arrived very quickly and I was amazed by the build quality, Features and Accessories. I could not be happier with it.
The only down side is that I had to download the instructions from Hobbycity but this was really no problem.
I'd recommend this charger to anyone from the novice to the experienced for its features and ease of use.

Was able to repair the charger myself.
Found a cracked solder between the connector board and the main board. After resoldering the connection between the two of them the balancer and the charger work perfectly. Still
have to lower the score for the above
reason.

| Acheté il y a 3 mois, j'ai chargé nicd, nimh, lipo, sans problèmes. Balance des lipos très correcte, variations de quelques centièmes de volts. La connectique fournie est importante, on peut quasi tout brancher. Le menu est clair, on peut consulter les différents paramètres en cours de charge. Je n'ai pas remarqué d'échauffement anormal, le ventilo fait un peu de bruit, mais franchement, pour le prix si c'était à refaire, je reprendrais le même!

I just got my charger this week and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. The program is a little cumbersome and it took me a while to figure out that it has separate programming for balancing and charging. But once I got that is works great.

| I ordered four of them to charge NiMH packs for robots and Li-Polys for planes. Received in four days, and have run all four continously for 30 hours so far, charging 6S Li-Poly and 20 cell NiMH packs. The chargers work flawlessly - this is a real deal!

Great charger at a great price
Balance is very accurate, display is big and easy to read, charges my 6s pack at 6 amps, very nice leads (starter lead, glo ignitor, BEC, RX Pack, aligator clips) all with nice thick silsicone wire and deans style plugs, also comes with temp sensor and usb cable.
The only negative I can find is that the charge leads come out on the opposite side of the balance plugs but charge leads are long enough to reach.

Excellent value for money, almost too good to be true?!
Have tested with NiCad, NiMH, LiPo, Pb, & all excellent results so far, tho there have been a couple of quirks I haven't got to the bottom of yet. It seems to be pretty forgiving, but I think you still need to be careful you have everything connected 100% correctly (eg. balance lead/s NOT connected when LiPo 'charging' vs 'balancing' - an easy mistake considering when using "Save Data" for a LiPo Balance, it turns in to a LiPo Charge on "Load Data").

Got this charger after an Imax B5 and B6, and I must say that this one is much better. It isn't much expensiver, it has more power to load and a GOOD BALANCER! The Imax don't have that. This one balances te Lipos very good, i'm very happy with.
It is sold too with good quality charging cables, temperature sensor, USB connector...
The only thing that isn't good is the fan. It works nearly always, even if the inside temperature is around 20°C. So it works even if you load with 25W power, and I don't like that in my room. But technical it's a good charger.
