Spacepotato (100%)
I bought one of these. It works ok with my Futaba 10C but not with my Hitec Eclipse 7. In Hitec Eclipse, the Tx module blinks fast red all the time. When pressing the programming button blinking slows a bit but it keeps blinking fast when the button is released. It can't bind with the Rx either. What could be the problem? With Futaba it works as it should blinking red/green in programming and solid red in normal state.
   Marty62 (46%)
I also have an Eclipse 7. I had no problems installing it, worked first time.

With this Corona module you can use only Corona DSSS V2 receiver.

Louis (84%)
Can anyone help me, I purchased the Corona DSSS module for a Futaba 9 CAP it binds 100% with the receiver as long as the servo’s are out, if I plug the servos in it binds maybe every 10th to 20th time, I have the same problem if I use the module on a Hitec Optic, I tried my friends brand new module, never been used, and the same thing happens
   Jeff (67%)
Hi Louis- dont know if this helps but just went through the same problem with a Hitec Module. With 6 servos hooked up it would pull to much voltage at intitial power up,robbing reciever of enough voltage to Bind properly. I now have a seperate battery to run the reciever function and a seperate for the servos. Dont know if your reciever has this capability?
   Louis (84%)
Jeff
Thanks for your reply, It looks like the rx battery must be at a higher MAH something like 1500 mah or more, I used a 1400 or 1500 mah batt and the RX binds every second time, please send me a diagram on how you’ve set up your two batt’s.
Thanks
Louis
   Jeff (67%)
Hi Louis- The Hitec actually has a jumper that you remove to power up the receiver seperatally. Input voltage can be 1-35 volts. Not sure if Corana has that type of feature? Thinking about purchasing one of these for my second Eclipse 7 radio. Sounds like you are on right track with the higher mah. You can use a high mah 2 cell lipo with a regulator too
   Louis (84%)
Thanks Jeff, the higher mah battery did do the trick, what’s worrying me, is that nobody else had the problem, I think Corona should mention this with their products, because you will loose sync between the tx and rx.if the batt is not up to spec. Louis

Does anyone know if this conversion will work with the Hitec Prism Radio. It has a module port in the back. I was told it would, but thought I would see if anyone here has used it in this type of application?

These are "Futaba" shaped modules, and as such will fit most modern Futaba or Hitec transmitters that use a module for the RF stage. They DO NOT fit Hitec's new Aurora transmitter, even though the module is the same size, because of the telemetry system on the Aurora Tx there is an extra pin coming out of the back of the Tx which will interfere with the fitting of the module. Also this is a DSSS system as mentioned above, from what I have heard it is compatable with Hobbyking's HK7x receivers and the Corona receivers have been reported as working with the HK7-x transmitter, but it is NOT compatable with any other 2.4Ghz system that I know of. From my experience it has given rock solid performance with no interferance when operational. There are some idiosyncracies in that some times the system will not link up when connecting power - but a second power up will usually correct this. When Binding, Turn TX to PPM mode, turn off, then turn the transmitter on WHILE PRESSING THE BIND BUTTON, then release the bind button (LED flashes RED-GREEN-RED etc). POWER ON RX WHILE PUSHING RX BIND BUTTON, RX LED flashes red 2x. RX is now bound to TX.
TURN BOTH OFF
Now TURN ON RX FIRST followed by the TX, the rx LED will flash rapidly to show link up, then will pause followed by lighting up Solid RED - indicating the system is all functional. In some cases this link up can take 20-30 seconds when you initially turn the system on, though is usually more like 10-12 seconds. The receivers cut out at around 2.5V, and come back on very quickly when the voltage comes back up again, in other words quite safe on 4.8V rx packs.
   Charlese (55%)
I have this system (Corona 2.4 GHZ) I found that I would loose the binding for about 5 seconds during my flight. I have also crashed one plane because of this. After extensive bench testing, I found that I loose connection for a few seconds and than it reconnects by itself. I tried with two other Receivers and got the same results with all receivers. I have returned the Module and Receiver because it has a defect in the module. I have not heard of anyone else having this problem. It may just be the one I got. I am waiting now to hear from HobbyKing or receive the new Module Happy Flying Charley
   Harry (73%)
I have used them for over a year and just started having problems they lose lock up and it mainly show first with the ailerons. I tried 2 modules three xmtrs[2 9C and a 10] same thing, trieda friends 9C with his module and antenna and same problem shows up. I lost one plane and damaged another. It seems all the newer receivers[last 6 months] have the problem. I bet they made a change to "improve" them and actually did harm. Now two planes later the cheap price does not look so goo. BE WARE
   Jeff (67%)
Hi Charlese and Harry- Dont no if you have seen Louis and Myselfs talk above. These Modules dont like to get below 3.2 volts. If you are using these in high amp draw servo applications you could be dropping voltage during 3d flying. I actually got my Hitec to do this by moving all control surfaces at the same time. Servos would lock up and loose connection. When battery recovered reciever would re-bind.
   Harry (73%)
I have located the above problem to be caused by a broken braid connection at the antenna solder point on the PC board. When I re-soldered it the problems of loss of signal went away. I think the braid breaks because when they solder them the braid wicks up solder& flux and makes the wire stiff at the solder end. Then they bend the wire to the side around the receiver when they pack it in the bubble pack. I now take all receivers apart and check the braid at the solder point. Receivers that caused plane damage and a crash are now performing great when the braid has been re-soldered. Harry

What does corona DSSS mean? I don't understand the DSSS
   ChuckBee (54%)
From Answers****
In telecommunications, direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) is a modulation technique. As with other spread spectrum technologies, the transmitted signal takes up more bandwidth than the information signal that is being modulated. The name 'spread spectrum' comes from the fact that the carrier signals occur over the full bandwidth (spectrum) of a device's transmitting frequency.
   Agustin (34%)
Estoy muy contenco de haver camviado de 35 Mhz a 2.4Ghz no me supuesto ningun impedimento en mi Futaba 9C y funciona de maravialla.
   Isaac Marino (35%)
DSSS means Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum. it is a modulation scheme where each bit to be transmitted is divided into several "chips" (8, 16, etc.) that are transmitted in sequence, each one with a pseudo-noise added. The transmitter and receiver both know what is the exact sequence of the pseudo-noise, so the receiver knows how to remove it and reconstruct the original signal. This add resilience against interferences and real noise, allowing correct reception even if other units are transmitting in the same frequency. The pseudo-noise sequence is different for each pair of transmitter-receiver, so if there is a collision during a chip, chances are good that for the next chip it won't happen, and because several chips are used for each bit, the correct data can be reconstructed.
   totpic (49%)
DSSS is the modulation used on 2.4GHZ, for you is transparent but remember that to buy more receivers
   racer75 (-22%)
Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum – DSSS it is an no hopping system, this item works with 3 different channels at the same time! for more info check wikipedia

   steliosh (23%)
well... I ordered a 3ch module and receiver from another source and IT WORKED!!! I was in fear that it might have been $25 wasted, but at least in house it worked. Now, it remains to be tested on the road: 1/10 electric buggy and TC, 1/5 HPI Baja, 1/5 electric KP-Designs motorcycle!

PS: My Futaba T3UCP is of the same generation as the FF series. It was also called FF3.
