Is this work fine with A123 7S 2300mAh battery?
   Christian (39%)
I use this with 6S 3000 Lipo- works fine!!
   mrclavo (27%)
it could

Martin (79%)
Unfortunately I'm a bit disappointed. Okay this ESC costs no money, but that's all. I was'nt able to program this controller to a useable adjustment, acceleration is so fast, you kill every ge****t immediately. I will not recommand this item.
   mrclavo (27%)
i think its **** it stated smoking on the first plugin

crutav (67%)
so is this correct , that i cannot use it with 3s...? because with 4s the cutoff is 12v....
   abdulrahman (37%)
you can use it with 4s

Anyone know if I could get by with this esc for a 50-55 400kv motor just a thought ?
   JaredG (62%)
You should be OK. I used it on a 4258 800kv 4s lipo, and no issues

paulzzr1200 (35%)
Onthe back the tag says 70A constant and max of 80A is this correct?
   abdulrahman (37%)

Does anyone know if this is limited as far as UBEC voltage? ie, can I use a UBEC set to 6V instead of 5V? Thanks!
   Lonziz (66%)
Yes, I am running with a separate 5 cell NiMh pack (6v) and all of my test were OK
   Stewart (49%)
Yes. I use on a 5 cells receiver battery
   thunderchicken (41%)
this esc has no bec . must use rx battery .

martinl (46%)
Has anyone cooked the rx wires both esc and Ubec using this system. I found that this esc is of diff design to other non bec esc. With this unit if u supply the Ubec with the same flight pack it will start smoking. Running a separate pack is OK.

Hey everyone, how do you think this ESC would fare on 5000mAh 20C 4S li-po with a 2700kv L sized motor in my Savage? I'd be using a UBEC. Would it be alright? I just need something until my Mamba Max is back from Castle =]

Hi guys,
Some people at the review section mentioned that they have used 3s lipos.

Does anybody use 3s lipos to power this ESC?

Is there any option in the adjustments menu (select 3s)?
Thanks alot.
   gouldie (63%)
yeah tried it on 3s and for some strange reason the lvc cuts of at 10v which for 4s is 2v to low but for 3s its a volt to high so dont know whats going on there

Will this work with a 3S Lipoly

Dimdimich (71%)
My one burned down on 7 A123 on test flight..
going to get one more to try, hopefully itll work next time OK..

slumberjer (88%)
I really hope SS ESC can include BEC in their design for future big amp esc..without BEC it's suck...add extra weight to the aircraft
   ppxav (83%)
hi
thing is that when you draw big amps,it bring heat with, bec are really sensitive to heat(cut off safety )that's not really nice because your receiver shut down and in the same time esc do the same( meaning no power)
it's safer to use a separate bec, BTW when you use a high amp it's not on a small bird, it can handle few more grams from an external bec.
cheers

Bought 2, installed 1, and I found complete programming info elsewhere, so now I have it running fine. Do a search for "50 Amp Esc" and you might find the answers as I did.Don't give up until you have located the programming sheet and set it up properly. Also make sure you supply proper control voltage, as it doesn't have BEC. I started with 6V, and it would beep-out complaints, 4.5V seems to work fine. Just in case you don't want to find the programming info, I will see if it fits in this review:1. TAKE OFF PROP!!!2. Turn on Rec, ESC, then Xmit with throttle on full, listen to beeps:3. Musical tone, then 1 beep indicates that battery type can be programmed. This is repeated three times, then same but 2 beeps, then 3 beeps, 4, 5, and 6, all repeated three times, and it starts all over again. When you hear the one you want, go to 1/2 throttle. Here is what they mean:ONE=BatteryTWO=ThrottleTHREE=BrakeFOUR=Direction & CutoffFIVE=TimingSIX=PWM setting4. Next you select the choice within that option, with beeps coded to say where you are, again each choice is repeated three times, and when you hear the one you want, go back to full throttle, here they are: (Short-Long)1-1 = NiCd1-2 = 7 cell LiPo1-3 = 6 cell LiPo1-4 = 5 cell LiPo1-5 = 4 cell LiPo1-6 = 3 cell LiPo1-7 = 2 cell LiPo2-1 = Auto throttle range2-2 = 1.1ms to 1.8 ms from Recvr2-3 = Accelerate Fast2-4 = Accelerate by ramp-up3-1 = No brake3-2 = Soft brake3-3 = Med

Darn, the programming instructions didn't all fit, here is the rest:3-4 = Hard brake4-1 = CW rotation4-2 = CCW rotation4-3 = Cutoff soft (When battery low)4-4 = Hard cutoff5-1 = 2 to 4 pole motors5-2 = 6 to 8 pole motors5-3 = 10 to 14 pole outrunner5-4 = Hi RPM outrunner (I think >20k)6-1 = 8 kHz PWM for low RPM6-2 = 16 kHz for outrunnersWhen done either:A-Go full throttle to select anotherB-Go low throttle to end and saveand you will get a long beep, and "Bob's your uncle"Next startup will give 2 beeps to confirm all is OK.If you know more about the diagnostic beep, please share that with everybody, I could not find a list...

What do you want for this price? Its THREE times cheaper than the Plush 80, AND will handle 8S (the P80 will only handle 6S.

Its a 'no brainer' for the money providing it performs OK.

Eseck90 (92%)
Can this new ESC, be programmed with the turnigy program card?
   alan (50%)
did you get an answer to your question i neede the same advice thanks
   molokaiboy (58%)
I tried to program it with the turnigy card and couldn't get it to work.
Hooked it up per instructions on bec using a separate 4 cell nicd and it didn't even light up.
