Martin. (40%)
Hi guys, do you know the max. voltage that can be used for this device? I'd like to use it in a drill that uses two types of battery-packs* the original 9.6V pack (which has 12V peak voltage) and the new 2s lipo pack (still to solder). Will the 12V not be too much? Thanks for your answer.

ahto42 (86%)
Does it beeb, when the woltage is over 8,4v?
   Martin (100%)
Unfortunatelly not. The LED stays blue.
   ransideous (-3%)
no, this is low power warning not high power warning
   slashracer63 (45%)
mine only beeps when my battery gets to 3.2 volts a cell
   mouchadino (28%)
i use this item and no problem....
   marcos (100%)
no only when the vol. is down
   Blissett (35%)
It beeps when you plug it in, but no I don't think it warns about over-voltage.

Napstr (86%)
How does it work through the balance plug? Does the middle pin remain unsoldered so it detects both cells?
   Christian (88%)
Correct. It measures the total voltage of the battery. 7.4V up* Blue light shines. 7.4V-6.8V* Blue light flashes 6.8V-6.6V* Red light flashes Below 6.6V* Red light flashes & beep.
   ransideous (-3%)
yes,it works on pack voltage.
   Morten (55%)
it does not use the middle pin :( it mesures the whole batterypack.
   cfk-motors.com (99%)
Only the extarnal pins are used, so it do survey the whole pack. For myself, I prefer to solder it to the ESC input.
   Martin (100%)
It is just monitoring the total voltage of the pack. Middle pin remains unsoldered.
   ransideous (-3%)
yes and yes, 3 stage warning, buzzer on third
   ernst erni (100%)
yes, the middle pin remains unsolded so you measure the total voltage of the battery
   Blissett (35%)
Yes...which means if one cell is bad in your battery then it won't really work. Not that that's likely with the batteries offered here!

Mitch (63%)
cant i just solder this to the esc if i wanted instead of that gay plug?
   Christian (88%)
Yes, no problem, because the monitor measures the total voltage, and not cell voltage.
   ransideous (-3%)
yes but u lose versatility.
   Morten (55%)
yes, if you are sure you will only use 2cell batterys for powering the esc.
   cfk-motors.com (99%)
That's the way I do use it :)
   Martin (100%)
Yes, you can. Only follow the battery line and polarity and solder it wherever you want (at ESC or at battery plug...)
   ransideous (-3%)
yes you can
   Blissett (35%)
No - it connects to the balance connector on the battery. You could solder it to that I guess, but that wouldn't be too clever since it would slowly discharge the battery if you left it...

Parkside Flyer (56%)
how do you solder the red & black wires to the white plastic plug without melting the plastic?
   nitroextreme (56%)
carefully, and don't let the iron set on the part to long. it heats fast, so work fast
   Cliff (44%)
The pins will push out the back of the plug. Then solder and push back in. I have done it both ways.
   Pygar (34%)
Shock soildering. Put tin on wire and pin. As fast as possible with the pin. Then melt them together. If you have a balance plug you can use it to keep the pin in place for the heated time. I put glue on the pins to keep them in place. Dont forget to put on the shrink tube first.
   ombre (46%)
Use low temperature soldering.
   smoedog (46%)
I plugged the connector into a lipo to hold the pins incase the plastic heated up. Then i tinned the wires, put the wires on pin and place the iron on the wires, and as soon as the solder starts to flow let off. Done
   slashracer63 (45%)
very carefully
   DukeZillo (65%)
use a 25watt solder
   Jaysee (37%)
Learn to solder *-) Fix the connector in a claw. Solder some lead on one pin, this should take 3 seconds of heating. Do the same with the wire. Now solder them together, 3 seconds of heating. You're done. Advice, use some shrink tube to protect visible connections. J.
   J_Munk (30%)
You need to be quick to solder, in order to not melt the plastic.
   DukeZillo (65%)
i solder with a 25watt pencil solder without problems, or you can remove the pin, and solder without risk to melt the white plastic.
   kyoshofan (60%)
You just have to take your time and not leave the soldering gun on it for very long. I had had no problems with it and it didn't come anywhere close to melting.
   uppestar (63%)
......it's impossible......
   mongomongo (34%)
Easy to solder, just use a good hot solder and try to be quick, i had no probs with melting..
   Dmytro (55%)
just pull the pins out with a pair of pliers, solder, then push them back. they move pretty tightly and won't get loose.
   ransideous (-3%)
carefully! use pegs, weights, anything to hold everything down or go buy PEGS or HANDS FREE ITEM HOLDER in HAND TOOLS, page 9
   cfk-motors.com (99%)
Better to solder them to your ESC input plugs :)
   ransideous (-3%)
carefully
   Blissett (35%)
Use a lower power soldering iron - you wont melt it if you use an 18w iron.

Can someone please say how mutch is net weight os this item?
   Darwin (7%)
Dont probleme is very very light.
   Pygar (34%)
It is 3.5 grams with 2 cm wire including the plug.
   ransideous (-3%)
4.9 grams unsoldered
   Martin (100%)
Around 4 grams (my kitchen weight shows 4 grams)
   ransideous (-3%)
aprox. from memory 5.5 grams or 0.194 ounce ish :)

Remember that this board is really only good for 1S as it is monitoring only one voltage and relies on all cells being the same voltage, whichb as we all know doesnt happen with Lipo's hence the need to balance charge. I prefer the cheap BM6 which does 2S to 6S. Much better.
   martiman (63%)
You are wrong. I have been using them on my 2S 7.4V lipo and satisfied with the performance. No alarm has been made (yet) for 1S (3.7V) lipo packs.
   Napstr (86%)
It moniters the total pack voltage so like all of these relies on the cells being balanced so if you have a ***rly balanced pack it is still possible to damage one cell but generally balancing is one of the most important things to check with Lipos so the cells will be balanced.

chipbutty (47%)
I have a problem with mine. It starts flashing blue when the voltage has only dropped to 7.8v. I checked the voltage on two different voltage meters. It should start flashing blue when the voltage has dropped to 7.4v. I didn't get mine from Hobby King. As they're fairly cheap I've ordered another. Hopefully it's just faulty.

carlos13 (56%)
is this water resistent or waterproof because i plan to use it on an e-revo?
   stgram12 (42%)
of course not! cant you see the soldering? One drop and shortage-fried board.
Better put it in some kind of box or use see-through tape.
   dennis (75%)
Looks like you could use some RTV to make it water resistant, but the speaker would prevent it being waterproof.
   Ben (45%)
Just cover the board in silicone caulk and call it good. A little water will not hurt the speaker. Or buy 2 at this price just to be safe. Hell its cheaper then the shipping.
   TheGrimReaper (60%)
the speaker is a peizo electric (all metal)so would work under wtaer.
   hard (44%)
Just put it in condom, sorry. =))
   Eric1180 (-53%)
I second the condom.. just like the marines.
   whitesummitnut (59%)
No, but put it in a balloon I'm gonna try liquid tape for use on my summit
   davidpc2 (47%)
The condom is more aerodynamic than the balloon :)
   ECTOR (61%)
Hi carlos13 no it is not waterproof but you can close that in a clear plastik box so you can see the leds but no sounds...cheers
   whitesummitnut (59%)
No, but liquid tape is great stuff
   smoedog (46%)
Not really, its got some clear shrink wrap to prevent shorts but not water. I got mine mount on the back of my blitz so i put 4 coats of liquid tape on it ( but each time cleaned the leds, but not their leads) to make it more water resitant, its worked so far

Can someone measure the circuit board dimensions?
   BobDeere (56%)
This works real well for me. But I was wondering if I can get replacement connectors for the alarm?
   Kapitan-Panika (56%)
Without buzzer it have 16x27x2. With buzzer - 16x32x11.
All dimensions are in mm.
   smoedog (46%)
28mm L x 15mm W x 11mm H (bottom of pcb to top of speaker)
   Martin (100%)
3,2 x 1,7 (height incl. siren is 1,2). all in milimeters.

Can this be rigged to be used as a plane finder?? I need an alarm that I can hook up to the Rx and switch it on if the plane is lost.
   Beaufighter (-25%)
With its own 1S battery or something other below 5V, and a "turnigy receiver controlled switch" I guess it will work. (remember that the "rx controlled switch" need common ground from its supply and the controlled circuit)
   Blade Boy (74%)
Hey Tom why don't you go to a dallar shop and buy a personal alarm. The type that can be used in a door. You can rig it with a servo to turn it on and they are loud as heck.
   TheGrimReaper (60%)
YOU NEED
1 x Gun (for good looks and to fool step 2.
1 x Golden retriever
1 x Plane painted like a duck.

Hope this helps....
   coolbudz223 (50%)
maybe when the battery runs down to 6 volts or just connect a buzzer to the and - of the receiver, that means it will buzz all through the flight.
   smoedog (46%)
i wouldn't bother, the buzzer isn't loud enough

Grzegorz (56%)

Welcome has a question if the shipment went to the Polish
24/05/2009
Thomson (39%)
Huh, a little bit stupid question :

Voltage drops below 6V ???
At 3.2V, lipos are nearly dead.
If a lipo is at 6V, your lipo is dead, no ???
   stereosonics (43%)
Have a look here:
***********maxprotechnic****/Maxpro/Technic/MaxproBM.html

It tells you the alarm levels. The buzzer and red LED indicate when battery is below 6.6v.
   coolbudz223 (50%)
no it isnt, when it drops below 6 volts it damaged but not dead, but anymore it might not hold a charge
   martiman (63%)
Before you reach the critical voltage, it has already warned you of the impending drop in volatge. Read the manual.
   Dmytro (55%)
mine came with a manual which says that it starts buzzing when the voltage drops below 6.6V. before that, it shines and flashes with its LEDs differently for different voltages.

Fernando (70%)

alex.g (70%)
i wish they make 1S edition, too
   crusader1 (62%)
That plug shown in the picture doesnt look compatable to anything on my car. Do you wire it directly to the leads on the battery or to the balance plug.
   jlvt (47%)
Can someone please tell the weight of this item
?
   ahto42 (86%)
Does it beeb, when the woltage is over 8,4v?
