ZIPPY Flightmax 2500mAh Transmitter Pack (Futaba/JR)
ZIPPY Flightmax 2500mAh Transmitter Pack (Futaba/JR)

Zippy Flightmax batteries deliver full capacity & discharge as well as being the best value batteries in the hobby market today!

The Zippy Flightmax 2500mAh Transmitter pack fits snuggly into any Futaba or Jr radio which takes a 4x4 AA cell battery configuration (see image).
With a capacity of 2500mAh this lipoly replacement for your old NiCD or NiMH will last four to five times longer. Probably the best advantage with a lipoly transmitter battery is that it will give a true voltage reading from start to finish which means you can say goodbye to the days where you thought your Transmitter was fully charged at home, only to find the voltage drop off rapidly when at the field.

Is this battery ever going to be in stock again, I've been waiting forever!

Ricore (88%)
Does it work in a plane ?
   kolotoympas (34%)
No. This is a Transmitter battery it has too low discharge rate 3c - 5c find something at least 20c
   bentamas (63%)
i think it does not. It has only 2-5 C rate meaning around 5-10 Amper output. That's nothing for an electric aircraft.
   Bruce (70%)
Are you refering to use as a reciever pack?

hello there ! did all of you connect he Lipo directly to the TX or trough a regulator ? I'm asking to know as Lipo fully charged = 12,6 V instead of NIXX = 11,2V witohut regulator it is not too much current for the TX ?
   kolotoympas (34%)
no problem at all. i put it on my turnigy 9x-tx works fine.
   Incredible319 (59%)
hello, depending on the type of connector of yr charger, i cut and resolder appropriately... Dont charge it directly into yr tx, the tx battery is Ni type...Its also unsafe to do so..
   Incredible319 (59%)
no you shouldnt charge it directly through tx, its not meant too.. Use a regulator or solder another connector..Then charge and balance externally
   kolotoympas (34%)
of course he will charge it with an external charger. no directly to the tx. also will need to get the old conector of the tx battery pack to the new lipo. but daniel ask something else. if the 12,6 curent is too much for the tx. i say it i work fine to me. specifically the on board tx voltmeter shows 11.8 at full charge
   TONY.ALVES (53%)
I used it on the HK 7K and it works fine, no problems...until now...two weeks of use.
   Glacier Girl (67%)
I've been running my Spektrum and Futaba tx's with lipos for three years now. I just charge the lipos only to just over 12 volts. Have never had a problem, and it's nice having a tx that runs for days on end without having to recharge it.

   rcflyer40t (25%)
I bet you can, this battery is so small it'll fit in just about any radio. I couldn't believe how small it really was. Measure out the battery box in your radio and compare the data on HobbyKing's site.

Good Luck!

i have a JR RADIO DSX7 transmitter, will this be OK and will it fit? thanks people !
   tjdiii (81%)
yes it will fit. i know many people using 3s lipos in their dx7 with no problems. but i have heard of others have had the 3.3v regulator inside the tx burn up. personally, when i had the dx7, i replaced the stock regulator with a better & more efficient switching regulator. would last over a month before having to charge. (thats with almost everyday use) replacing the stock regulator with a switching type regulator will improve runtime for any type of power source you use in the tx. lipo or Nimh, etc. but note that replacing the regulator will void any warranty that your radio comes with.

Memoza (39%)
what's the lowest Voltage you can go down to ?
   crashman1 (25%)
Hi There The most that I would go down to is 10.8v That way you are not discharging past 3.6v per cell. Take care Jamie
   MADISONMaster (86%)
In general, a lipo battery (min 3V - 4.2V max) should not drop below 3.4 V without load - For those who are too afraid to heat their HF transmitter 12.6V, made like me (from a year), solder a 1N4007 diode in series with the positive battery - the voltage of the transmitter will be at 11.7 V - Always charge the battery with the balance taken
   Viacheslav (30%)
2,9 v per one element. For 3S battery - 8,7 v.
   rcflyer40t (25%)
per cell, it's 3.7V. So you don't want to go below 11.1V on a three cell like this one here. Of course as the cell amount changes so does the total voltage. So simply add or subtract 3.7v to the cell count. 2s= 2cells= 7.4v, 3s= 3 cells= 11.1v, 4s= 4 cells=14.8v. Now all these voltages are a low battery voltage. A charged 3s or 3 cell li-po battery comes to 12.6v. So for each cell to be fully charged, it must read 4.2v. Add that to each cell in a pack and there ya go.

All set? Hope so. If not let me know and I'll help anyone out.
Otto
   Kovacs (20%)
Hy! As result of my mistake my transmitter battery pack's voltage went down to 8,0 V (that means 2,6 V /cell). I've charged it with low amps, now it's work perfectly.
   Ruben (47%)
Not less than 10,2V. Better about 11,1V. 9V or less and your battery will dead.
   Tatnorway (8%)
NOT under 3,1 per cell! That will say 9,3 volts. I would charged it when it came below 10 volts.
   Chris (23%)
I wouldn't let it go below 10volts
   haddad (29%)
The lowest you can go is 9V (3V each cell), if you go further you will unreversibly damage the battery.
   Carlos Jose (27%)
3 volts by cell
   Fernando (42%)
not less than 10v.
   nrajesh@hotmail (73%)
Hi, The recharge threshold is 9.8 volt to be safe. One out of three battey can fail in no time, and voltage drops - 3.7 volt, chance of loosing model. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO CHARGE THIS BATTERY USING A BALANCED CHARGER.
   Glacier Girl (67%)
I would suggest not going below 3.3 volts per cell, or 9.9 volts total for best performance.

Hi everyone. Is this a good choice for a turnigy/flysky transmitter? Do i need to make any changes on the transmitter or i have just plug in? Thanks
   Bill (29%)
You would have to measure the inside dimensions and output plug inside of your transmitter. If your transmitter has a Futaba or JR connector in it, then it should work as long as your Transmitter can handle the voltage.

how is this even considered a Futaba Tx battery? it needs to be 5mm smaller to even fit in the battery compartment?.. I thought I could modify the battery compartment but nope.. not even close.
Give insang a point.

-Reply from Sooty (0 points)*
Take the back off the transmitter. Cut out the floor of the battery compartment leaving about 6mm ledge all the way round - this will enable you to pop your original ni-cd flat pack back in if you want to. Wrap some foam around the lipo pack to hold it snugly in the compartment and up off the Tx board below.
   Malfamartin (71%)
It is of course up to everyone to check their Tx if it is possible to make room for the battery. In my Futaba 2Pl it fits, but just barely. With modifications of course. My advice is also to use Maxpro 3S monitor. Think positive instead and make it work. If this LiPo doesn't fit your Tx, then consider another LiPo with right dimensions, but then you also have to modify the leads too. A peace of cake!
   Cris (27%)

It would have been useful if you'd stated the model of TX
   Malfamartin (71%)
To make this thread useful, please tell us what went wrong. Did you really check the polarity?
Just to say it doesn’t work is not progress.
Amateurs fiddling with radios will always void warranties.
   airheli1201 (53%)
perhaps you fully charged it as lipos reach 14.2v when fully charged right?
   OldSkoolKool (98%)
Actually airheli1201, a 3S lipo such as this battery is fully charged at 12.6v (4.2v x 3). Storage voltage for a 3S lipo is 11.55v (3.85 x 3). Nominal voltage for a 3S lipo is 11.1v (3.7v x 3). If your charger is taking it higher than 4.2v per cell, you are at risk of damaging the battery or worse.
Travis

Yes it burn out my TX JR X-3810 because my TX works with 11.5v but the battery was charged up to 12.4v so it may be because of the charger if it should not charged more than 11.1v
   MetalBender4by4 (30%)
I have been useing this battery in my Futuba 10c for about a year now and it works great, I can fly three or four weekend without chargeing. The reason it burned out the JR is because JR's power plugs are reveres compared to Futuba.

   OldSkoolKool (98%)
Hi Ernesto,
Your Futaba 4EXA comes with the NT8F600B 9.6V 600mAh NiCd battery. This is a flat pack, and the same one that came in my Futaba 6EX. This Flightmax 2500mAh transmitter battery will not fit without modifying your transmitter battery floor. It's not hard to do, just takes a little time, and is worth it for the advantages of the lipo over the nicad battery.
