The lumifly FAA Configurable lighting system comes with a red, green and strobe ultra bright LEDs. Strobe and LEDs can be switched, removed or daisy chained with other units to create any number of lighting configurations.
The Lumifly system is powered by your receivers servo port (any channel) and can operate in parallel with an existing servo, so you wont be needing a spare channel, and with a voltage range of 3.5 ~ 10v you can be sure it will work with almost any receiver.
LED wires can be extended with any JR style servo lead extention to suit any plane size.

what extra do you need to install? are all the wires included? how long are they? I want to put them on an 1.8m span piper cub. I have futaba 7c with 7chanel receiver...

You need only tape to install them and wires are included (about 300mm). In my opinnioin they are very easy to install and to use. Lights are enough bright even daylight and hole system is very light to even small depron planes.

I've got a DX6i and an ar6100 on my foamie. i cant figure out how to program the radio with it plugged into my gear slot on the rx. Help?

Program the radio? This system is not programmed this way, it uses the servo lead only for power, jumper on: LEDS are all on, jumper off: FAA mode.

These lights are great. I know many are asking about instructions, so here is how they work:
-The lights, can be switched on and off through a spare RX channel. You do NOT need to buy a separate switch circuit to do this. Once you plug it into the spare channel, make sure the jumper on the circuit board is ON. The lights will all then start to flash. As soon as you turn on your TX, and they detect a valid signal, the green/red LED will remain on, and the white will start to flash. If you now say flip the gear switch, they will all go off, ie, you are now controlling them through your TX.
If you do NOT want to use a spare RX channel, and you want the lights to flash (white flash/red/green solid) remove the jumper...

Perfect lights for several planes. Connected into spare Rx channel, switched by Tx. Good visibility during late afternoon, price is OK.

Dollar store keychain or the like,(3 button cells) note the polarity of the led solder it onto a cut off servo extension or plug from a dead servo. You can add more than one in paralel but small becs struggle with more than 2. I use the solid on front/botom for landing light and the strobe back top. Make sure the red/green overhang your wingtips and through the process of elimination you can tell orientation perfectly in pitch black.
Sorry about the grainy video and before somone points out the obvious I have the turnigy rc switch on order.

Overall length of each lead is 28.5cm. The LED adds another 2cm. The receiver lead is 18cm. The "daisy-chain" lead is 10cm. The receiver and daisy-chain leads appear to be 26gauge, whereas the LED leads are < 32gauge (very lightweight and thin).

does anyone know if these lights have a on/off through the rec. channel? or is it on always, when it is plugged in?
and can u change the rate of strobe?
please let me know.

If you plug it straight in the receiver it will be powered once the RX is powered. You can use this switch to make it switcheable through a sepreate channel: LUM-ONF Turnigy Receiver Controlled Switch

Has anybody tried to add more leds to this unit? What is the max power consumption it can hold? I have a similar unit it can handle 1amp max (overall for all LED units)

How big is your bec? pretty sure it's the limiting factor if you want solid lights anyway. White and blue leds will survive 5v for quite awhile. I use this kit with an aditonal solid white landing light (led from dolar store keychain) pluged into the extension plug. When i used to use 15A gws brushed controlers (pitifuly small bec) I could run 2 whites but 3 would start glitching havn't tried with a bigger bec or more than 2 servos.

I do not know (cannot use your link...) In general, it is normal for "scale" to have navlights and strobe ON all the time (use a non-remote switch), landing light turns on when flap is extended (use a microswitch connected to flap servo). If the need for EXTREME scale, the red rotating beacon underneath (engine warning) should be lit before starting engine and after enginge shutdown...
You can buy remote operated switches (not here), but they are generally expensive (a cheap servo and a micro switch is a cheaper solution)

Arrived now and tried. They can be switched off or on (colored on and white flashing) just programming the Tx channel as a switch (gear, ecc.). No electronic switch on RX is required.

Is there any printed info on this gadget?

Hi Martin: To my surprise, there are no instructions or diagrams/schematics for this unit. What you see in the picture is what you get. The back of the card is white. Rob

Very bright. In fact it feels unsafe to stare directly at them if they are pointed towards your eye. Almost like a laser. (at least that is what it feels like). I'm sure they're safe, just very vivid.

It comes with small 3mm leds. The green one was not as bright as the red one in my set. Also these leds are very directional. I ended up replacing all of them with bright 5mm. I fly at night with a small gws warbird, and trust me, the airframe will disappear completely. You are literally flying the leds. Overall, I'm happy with the package, b/c the strobe light is very realistic :)

To extend the length of leads, are you saying splice/solder on more wire? Can I buy male/female 2-pole plugs compatable with the the ones furnished with it?? Martin 7-22-08

The included leds were too small for any real night flying. So I made new wire and cut it to the length I needed and finished the end with some bare servo plug sets, which you can buy here, to make a new connector. ultralight servo wire is best. I used strands of cat5e, which is thicker, but freeeeeeeeeeeeee

These are super units,i got them for all my planes now, i cut up an old p.c. ribbon cable to extend the wires, and i parralelled an extra white led to the green(not red) for a fixed white on the tail !,and put fresnel lens covers from maplins on all the lights, the view angle is now 180deg and looks very realistic!

I got them for my T-Rex 450SE V2 and a perfect fit. These things are awesome. Heres the video showing them in action on my copter July 28, 2009. Just scoot the address back togeather.

how long are the wires to the LEDs? (what's the largest wingspan they will work with?)
zaskarkid
(67%)
You'll have to extend or make new leads, unless your putting on a small indoor heli. Buy some bare servo ends, or long servo leads with bare wires.

put this set on a 32" foamy edge540. with the control box on one side, I had enough length to go to both wingtips and the tail for the strobe with an extra 1/2" on the side that was "with" the control box. would be easy to solder on extentions if you wanted though. I glued the wrong colors in place (dont work upside down...) and ended up cutting and resoldering the green and white. Works fine.
