Does anyone know for sure if the 12VDC plug in is pin postive or pin negative?
   flyingfoxtoo (31%)
answered my own question. attached the alligator plugs to my car battery. The input receptacle for the 12VDC power supply is center pin positive. The shell icon on the charger shows the shell as being red, which might imply pin negative. Don't believe the icon.

Hello, I have problem with this charger. It charges fine, balances fine, I check final result with Hobby king batery monitor medic, and Turnigy watt and power analyzer, BUT when i discharge battery, everything is fine until first cell drops to cca.3.6V and other 2 cells around 2.95-3V and keep droping i guess until it goes all together to 9V. I checked battery after and really one cell was 3.6V and other bellow 3V. Same thing with other new battery. So i guess its charger. Any ideas? thanks

Hi all!
Can anyone from latest buyers (from 03.2009) tell what colour of the GT A6 selling now? Silver or gold?

Triantafillos (30%)
Hi I'm trying to charge NiMH Batt, but I cant change the Charge to Auto? I cant change from Manual!
Anyone has the same problem?
   warwolf (21%)
Try holding down the two center buttons when you turn the charger on that works with some of there other chargers.
   waynemia (74%)
When the current value is flashing, press the two arrow buttons and hold them. It will switch from manual to auto and vice versa.

Robert (39%)
A buddy of mine told me that this charger will not charge thunderpower packs. It will only charge knock off packs. Is this true, or is he not using it right?
   Beaufighter (-25%)
I think he's not using it right! It will charge any pack, but beware that the balancer may not be direct fit for all manufacturers without adapter (different pinout of balancer plug)!!!

Bart (30%)
Can he also load a 2S 500mAh lipo pack?, because it say's 1-5A charge, can"t it charge below 1A?
   jezza (87%)
Yes it will supply below 1A, all the way down to .1A

OMT - SW only works when you configure the COM port < COM9

cbatters (46%)
HobbyKing - The next time you chat with the folks at GT-Power, tell them that they should send me a free charger for supporting their products ain a half dozen threads where many users could not get it to work.

Charger SW Issue Resolved
In an earlier post, someone mentioned that they had to run the program in Windows 98 compatibility mode but this did not help.

However, based on the fact that I knew the charger was OK (communicated with LogView) and other people were able to get it to work, I figured I would take another shot at it and I got it to work.

Step by step running Vista Home Premium:

1. Make sure to set charger to USB not temperature mode
2. Install USB driver and confirm that when charger is plugged in that the device shows up in the device manager as a serial port.
3. Right click on shortcut to run Charger program and select properties
4. Enable Windows XP compatibility mode (not Windows 98) from compatibility tab
5. Start charger on charge or discharge cycle
Note: Charger only sends out data when the charger is active
6. Launch the Charger program

Should work.

(I will have to go back and see why I could not get it to run earlier on either my Windows 2000 notebook or my XP desktop)

I would encourage you to remove the SW from the de******ion because it does not work. (Not a sngle person has reported that it works and numerous people have reported it as defective.)

How do I contact the manufacturer to get updated SW if no support is available here?
   Jason5001 (4%)
Take all the cables, lay them flat on the table and pause for a moment to think about what you're looking at.
The cables are for discharge, not input.
Don't try to force any of the cables into the input socket.
   Jason5001 (4%)
Yes, I have not been able to get the software to work either. The factory has said that it is free software and might not work on some PC's. haha

can i charge 6v packs 3000 mh ? thankyou

cbatters (46%)
Is anyone else running the SW?
   professorfate (78%)
Installed driver and software to XP Professional before hooking up charger. Didn't change ports or any of the other things people have been saying. Plugged the USB from the charger to my computer, ignored all the 'found new hardware' and driver install prompts, fired up the charger with a test battery connected and opened the software. It takes a few seconds before you see the data being graphed on the left side. My only problem with the software is that it has crashed on me after some long charge/discharge cycles. The charger still keeps going and restarting the software will pickup where it left off.

cbatters (46%)
Has anyone else been successful getting the Windows SW to talk to this charger? Any tips you can pass along would be appreciated.

cbatters (46%)
Very impressed with the charger in terms of ease of use and accuracy.

The only problem I am having is getting the SW to run.

1. I have configured the port on the charger for USB (not temperature)

2. I installed the USB drivers

3. Charger is recognized on COM4 when I connect the charger to the PC

4. I installed the applicaition SW without any problems or errors

5. The SW launches OK but there is no live values and no start/stop buttons (nor any instructions)

Any ideas?

   professorfate (78%)
It takes a few seconds (give it 20 seconds) before anything is visible. It starts when you start the software and runs whenever it's open. Use save to capture the graph at that point.
   waynemia (74%)
I have installed the software on two windows xp machines with no issues. I use not compatability settings. Make sure the charger is NOT connected. Install the software and driver from the CD. Set the port on the charger to USB. This charger cannot run the temp sensor and USB at the same time. Now connect the USB cord to the PC. I should connect like any other USB device. Start the software. Start a charge cycle. You won't see anything until you start a charge/discharge cycle. It will take a few seconds and you will start to see the graph.

DAVE
I read in previous messages (I think they were yours messages) , I saw doubts regarding which is better GT8 or Imax8.
Anyway (even in case of other Dave ...) I need helping :
I am a beginner.Excuse my english* I am brazilian
When the spec says "The charger is an entry level balancing charger and discharger which can handle up to 6 cells and 5A.", this means up to 6 diffrent "batteries" or one battery with 06 cells ("modules") ?
I have one "battery" NiMh 2700, 8.4V with 07 "modules" 2700,1.2 V
it can be charged/balanced/cycled/discharged with GT/Imax/TURNIGY 6 ??* is it enough ?? and I can use the Imax power supply power 12 V 5A * if I choose the GT8 I could use also this supply power 12 V 5A ? or is small ?
Thanks in advance, Dave
