plane is great! some design flaws though. be sure to reinforce front wheel mount, or it will fail on not ideal landing. main gear have to be reinforced also - add third ear plate with screw to disallow rotational movement. i have replaced all wheels, included are too small for anything but asphalt. flies very nice and scalelike, don't use rudder under slow airspeed - she will snap.

What ever you do dont over power this model , I used a Turnigy 35-36c 1100KV motor swinging a 9x7 3 bladed prop - OVERKILL CLimbs vertical out of sight, but unfortunatly didnt see a second flight yet as the motor pulled out the firewall , may havebeen a dryjoint in the FW ... *-)

I want to thank the people who work. I don't know who gets the profit. I don't care. I care about you. I want more change in my world and yours so I will buy this plane. It is very nice of you to make it. I believe China and Hong Kong should be asking higher prices to pay for the work. And to pay for better safety working. I don't forget who assembles these because I have worked in production. I love to work on these models. This one is very lovely...a pleasing design by Cessna well captured in model by you. I hope you design again, and apply your great value, conscience, and art.
My question is: Was this model designed by an American for the work there? Was that person who designed the model trained in model design in China or America? I have many sets of servos and will find planes like these to apply them to. ( I Also love China Model Productions model aircraft )

If any one of you come to my home and say those things to me, to my face, I'd be very surprised, since you are all cowards. And if you did come to my home, you might not leave in one piece. I'm a concerned, considerate caring person, respectful of those people whose backs our hobby is laid upon. But I am not going to be so considerate of weak cowardly idiots

i hope H/C get this plane back in stock really soon, i will be going with HXT 900 for rudder/ elevator and HXT 500 for ailerons and also make some flaps for it to.

I am flying this plane with Turnigy 28-26B Kv1350/Towerpro 30A esc/ABF 2200 battery/8x5 prop/HTX 900 on elevator and rudder + 2pcs HTX 500 on aileron/ The plane will stall with som altitude loss but it is quite a nice scalebird. Have also both rolled and looped the plane. The AUW is for me 775g.

I have one and everything is in the box except the motor, esc, servos and batery. The servos on the related products are too big, you`ll need 4 a bit smaller. P.D. The plane is fantastic once it is built.

3. I see no answer on the question about the servo's.4. Does the kit comes with all servo horns?5. How does the motor fit in the kit, looking at the motor picture do we need extra shafts?
William (3 points)
1. In terms of easy to fly for beginners. How does this one (TM Cessna 172 Skyline ARF) compare to the slightly smaller Cessna 173 ARF .15/EP?
2. How many servos we need for this plane? Specifically, are the ailerons controlled by one servo or 2 servos?

Has anyone fitted a steerable nose wheel to this birdie? If so, would appreciate some dialogue. Cheers, Moonie of Wantirna
Shame on you Arnold Kutic for ripping off an excellent review by Alan Wright on this bird here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563341 You steal the good work of others just to get a buck or 2 off your next order. I haven't built mine yet but I can say it is beautifully finished and will result in an excellent scale model. It is a little heavier than other balsa birds I have of similar size, but that relates to a stronger plane. As such, it will fly faster and not take kindly to being slowed down too much. Just remember to keep some power on all the way down until the final flare. Keep up the good work Hobby City - Cheers!

Nice model

Very nice construction from balsa and plywood. Although its seems that massive production in a big factory creates some unnecessary side effects. For example, the horizontal stabilizer socket it was not straight cut so the final result was a miss alignment stabilizer. The right thrust is too much for this kind of model. The model. The servo socket was too small even for a 9g servo. Glue was used with miserliness so I had to apply a lot of extra epoxy for additional strength. Although it's a very light and beautifully made construction and has a scale like flight. I suggest a relatively small motor (like KDA 20 series) about 1100 Kv or the very good Turnigy 28 series of the same Kv. I give it 5 stars because its a nice looking model although it takes much more improvements.

a small "bug"

the building of this plane is really easy. Even the instructions which are in the box are not too good. But you dont need them realy. Just for the CG reference.
It took me five days to finish it - but.. I was working on it only one or two hours a day as I have a small child and can work only nights when she is sleeping :-)
Everythig was great - only on one of the wings - where you need to sneak the servo cables throght the wing - the balsa ribs - or better to say - one of them - was missing the hole. So It took me more then three hours to get the cable inside. I had two choices or to remove the covering and make the hole or try to use another "way" through the wing. but the second option was really difficult as I had to take three "winkles". (but even with this bug its a five stars). But It worked and now everything is done. Going to flyght it today if the weather allows me to do so.
I used 4x HXT900 servos, TR 28-30B 14A 1050Kv Brushless Out engine, Cherry wood 9x6 propeller (AND BELIVE ME THE PLANE LOOKS FANTASTIC WITH A WOODEN PROPELLER!!!), TowerPro w25A Brushless Speed Controller and ZIPPY 2200mAh 3S1P 20C.
So fingers crossed to have no accident in my todays maiden flight.. will let you know how it went...

Just received the kit today. I'm really excited and begin to open the box. Upon inspecting the content, I am very impressed with the quality of the kit. Nice and beautifully finished. Pre-fitting of the main components showed no sign of surprises. Even for beginners, the kit is fairly straight-forward. Instruction is basic but easy to understand except that I would prefer larger pictures in the manual. Intermediate to experienced modellers should have any problems. One other thing, normal 9g servo won't fit into the servo mount without minor modification. Opt for slightly smaller 8g servo. I'm using Naro HP servos and only require slight trimming of the servo slots.

I have received my box with the plane today. It took only 8 days to arrive from HC to the Czech Repbulic. To box was absolutely ok and the plane looks fantastic. Even better then on the pictures. I started to asembly the plane imediately and everything fits great. I still need to implement the motor and the Rx, but till now, really not a single problem. I´m planing to finish it tomorrow and to test it on the weekend.
Thank you HC for this great plane

Cessna - weight understated
Arnold Baker
|
The worksmanship on this airplane is fantastic. However, there are two major shortcomings. One is the weight. the stated "Flying Weight is 470g". That is without ANY electronics. After adding the bare essentials for flight, the AUW is actually 958g. This is unforgivable. Also, the firewall is built with too small of plywood. Any, and I mean ANY landing that is less than perfect will tear out the whole front end. While it is very pretty, I recommend that you use this plane for a display model only. Very disappointing.

Today i had my first flight with this wonderfull little flyer. I fly with a 40 amp esc from HexTronic a 1300rpm KD A22-20L Brushless Outrunner Motor with 9x4.5 APC-E (3 cells PolyQuest 2000 30s: 16A, 170W, 900g, 41mph, 9700rpm).Servos are a mixed GWS nano and parks. Instructions are usefull only for the C.G. reference . All parts i find them very nice and assembly is one afternoon job. The big surprise comes when it flies!!! I wish i had so stable and straight flight in much bigger and and expensive planes . I LOVE TO FLY IT !!!! No trim needed since the battery i have to put it a little back. The plane is a fantastic teatcher to some who wants to fly with rudder . I stronglly sudjest it as an afternoon (not only) relaxing plane .
Thanks for the fine product. S.Kyriazis

Precision made, fine covered. But slightly too heavy. 470g isn't flying weight, but empty (without motor, accu, etc.) With ski instead wheel is flying weight 920g! (cca 60g/dm2) Weight of the skies is 95g.
measurement: 8630rpm 10.75V 17.5A thrust 903g Pout 130W

PERFEKT

What a great plane to build, 4xHXT 900, fits really snug with no extra cutting 30 amp Turnigy esc, 1800 polyquest lipo,10x5 cherry wood prop and a Turnigy AerodriveXp SK Series 35-30 1100 kv motor. Plenty of pull at only 15 amps and cruises very comfortably at just less than half throttle. Handled the wind pretty good but would be much better on a day with no wind. overall great plane

A1 post it only took 4 days to get to the uk in 100% condition the kit is good however front screen was not big enough to fit so made a new one, and both wing struts were 10 mm short. but dont let this put you off excellent model flies as good as it looks. stall gentle i used the TR 28 motor and the turnigy esc flies on half power perfect match. I wil buy more of these Kits A1 Rating and service

I received the models few days back. The model funishing is 5 stars, the manual is the worse version I ever come across, it is a waste to use such a good quality paper but poorly writtern content. Bottom line, I am glade to have it, it is such a nice plane.

Finnally, mine has arrived! In addition to my firsy message, first I would like to say THANKS to HK once again! That is my first plane, ordered from HobbiCity and arrived really fast and well intact! Thanks. The plane is lovely, the finish is really good. All the joints are well adjusted, hardware is neat, the model is pretty easy to assemble. Once again I enjoyed the manual - it ROCKS! :) To round it up - the plane is really cool.

As most of the other guys here, I dropped what was in my hands - to immediately begin the building of this VERY nice model. As pointed out by others: the front wheel attachment is too weak, & the vertical stabilizer socket is a few millimeters off. The predetermined motor angle is also a bit off/exaggerated, IMO. To me, these are all minor issues which are easy to fix. So, all in all - a beautiful, well put together & easy to assemble Cessna 172.

I received this little plane two weeks ago. First thing I noticed was the quality of the construction. Very impressed. Everything is included for construction (except motor, esc, servos, rec).
One note however. The instructions are not worth the paper they are printed on.
I installed HXT900 servos. Worked great. Tight fit, but worked. Plane flew great. Landing gear is sturdy.
I wish TMPro had a larger line up of planes.

I am still waiting for my Cessna (out of stock) and my friend just recently received his one from HC. This bird is amazing, really rocks, amazing quality for the price! The manual is a bit poorly compiled, but I strongly doubt anyone needs it. Great plane, wonderful model! Once I get it in the air I will post my impressions! Hobbycity, you are te best!
