Watt Meter & Power Analyzer /Watts up (Ver. 2)
Watt Meter & Power Analyzer /Watts up (Ver. 2)

The new "Watts Up" RC battery Watt meter from RC Electronics measures and calculates all the electrical parameters you need to get high performance from your R/C cars or planes. It is an essential tool for increasing the performance and safety of your electric-powered R/C model. With the best balance of specifications and features on the market, you can stop guessing and start knowing "Watts Up" with your performance!

Why do I need a watt meter? The "Watts Up" watt meter helps you:

* Predict model airplane flight time
* Ensure peak currents are safe for motor, wiring and connectors
* Check battery health and whether battery should be retired
* Evaluate R/C battery charging efficiency
* Verify that the minimum voltage while operating is within specifications
* Choose the best propeller or gearing and the most efficient motor
* Check for wiring and connector power losses
* Measure power and energy consumption of ANY device with a battery

Measures energy (Wh), charge (Ah), power (W), current (A) and voltage (V)
Connector to use a receiver battery for measurement down to 0 V
Captures current peaks and voltage minimums(droops)
Accurate & precise - 0.01 A current and 0.01 V voltage resolutions
Rugged - handles 50 A continuous and 100 A peak at 60 V
14 ga., 7 x 37 stranded, high temp silicone rubber insulated wire without connectors
Small & Light: 2.8" long x 1.7" wide x 0.83" thick (70 mm x 44 mm x 21 mm), 2.5 oz.
Acts like a wire so doesnt affect models performance. Precision current sensing resistor, with only 0.001 Ohm resistance and circuitry only draws 0.007 Amps
Uses DSP to increase ADC resolution and differential measurement amplifiers to increase noise immunity
Factory calibration stores constants in EEPROM to compensate for component tolerances
No PC necissary.
One Year Warranty
Complete User Manual
Made in USA to ISO 9001 standards

Personal note from the hobbycity director.
I believe a good amp meter is a must have for any EP flight hobbiest.
If everyone of our customers used one of these items, the number of burnt/returned speed controllers would be a great deal less.
Knowing how many amps your motor is drawing with a given propeller is essential in determining flight times and battery/esc sizing.
I cannot stress enough the importance of this item.
Anthony

I'm a "gold member" and the price is correct but what about the free shipping?
   garett (86%)
it's not eBay, you know...

I'm new at RC. Is this a useful tool for heli flyers? If so, how do you use it for heli's?

"Always connect and disconnect power at the meter FIRST on whichever of the LOAD
or SOURCE sides that has the highest electrical inductance." - err... sorry I don't get that. When I want to plug the meter between battery and ESC, do I first plug the battery to the meter or first the meter to the ESC?
   Mcdyvie (61%)
I plug the battery in first, then the ESC. No problems up to now, have used it about twenty times this week alone

rooster (70%)
can you measure torque with this device?
   Jocholo (65%)
hello rooster,
no you cant

Desmond (79%)
is this easy to use? which is better elogger or this?
   Jocholo (65%)
Yeah, its extremely easy to use, there is nothing to set, its plug and play. The watts up is simplier than the e logger
   justice (74%)
hay desmond, since jocholo was a little vaig in what he said ill fix it for him.
plug the meter between battery and esc go to full power hold for a second or two and back off.
now as long as you dont diconect the battery syraight away it will hold the details in the bottem left corner.it will scroll through a few differant things.the only thing you really have to note is amps and watts.as long as amps and watts are within tolerance your right to go.
if these power levels are under you change the prop till you can get as closs to max as possible.i hope this helps.

dondel (88%)
What kind of connectors??? Are they Deans connectors?
   fratav (71%)
Hello,
The watt metter don´t have conectors, you need to solder the Deans connectors, if you use for a big amperes(>60Amp.)is better to use others connectors more strong, more metal...
   Is40:31 (72%)
As long as you have the soldering iron out make yourself a deans extension cord. With a little velcro you can fix the meter to your field box while you run your tests.
   imac1 (85%)
put on it what ever you like

Here is the deal with this meter. The $39.64 price is good for your second order not on your first order. If you want the watt meter with your first order it’s $52.87 but it says nothing about this on the site. I tried to add it later on my fist order and was told this when I called. After your first order you become a Gold Level Member then on your next order you get the watt meter for $39.64
   Deano (69%)
You need to log in first to get the member price.

David (72%)
You mean if I log in, the price is 36.95? I'm logged in but the price in the cart is 56.95 and shipping is not free as stated on the product info page.
So, what is actual price and is shipping free?
   David (72%)
Ok, but it's a bit hard to see how long ago the original discussion started as there is no date appended to the posting. I suppose price is as per the item de******ion page. But still does not answer my question as to why on my "view cart" page the watts up has a weight of 150 gm when it's
"Free Shipping
This item is shipped for free to new and standard customers
when purchased with another item of any value. "
Am I not a "standard" customer and since I am also ordering other items, don't I qualify for free postage, in other words, on my "view cart" page should it not say "0" gm for the weight?
   David (72%)
de******ion was supposed to be "de******ion". No idea why it looks like a "dirty" word on submitting!
   David (72%)
I give UP! why can't the word "d e s c r i p t i o n" appear as I type it instead of "de******ion"?
   Beaufighter (-25%)
Because it contains the word scr1pt, which can be used for running a ja^a scr1pt. It is automatically * like some other words
   David (72%)
Thanks. I knew it had something to do with the censored letters but did not know the significance of this s-word

Henrik Nicolai (67%)
If I order now, will I get version 2.1 or above?
   Henrik Nicolai (67%)
Answer to myself: I got v 2.1
   Mcdyvie (61%)
Ordered in August 2009 and got V 2.1

alex.g (70%)
Do you plan to add Maxpro's new Battery Detector?

Rush! (62%)
How come the price is 36.95 on this page, but when i add to the cart its 53.95?
   Rush! (62%)
Sorry. 39.46 on this page but 53.95 when i add to the cart. Can you correct the pricing please such that it agrees. Thanks.
   imac1 (85%)
log in then you will see the low price

martiman (63%)
Anybody ever tried these on boats? Just concerned about it getting wet.
- Maurice
   teammpp (87%)
No need to worry about it getting wet. You dont run the boat constantly with it plugged in. Its only really for bench testing to get the information on your motor, batteries, etc.
   Warren (83%)
Ive been using mine in a boat recently without any worries. I even had a leak in the boat which resulted in it getting fairly wet. it still works perfect though. Highly recommended
