Hi there... Any one that can point out for me how to do a parallell set up? Using two of these BEC's as a security! How/where do I add those Shottky MBR1545? In serial on the lead out from the BEC but on which pin on the MBR?
Regards, Magnus

I got it... Here it is.
If you look straight to the Shottky with the printed side (number and name) towards you and pins facing to the ground, extreme left is Pin 1, Middle is Pin 2 and extreme right will be Pin No 3.
1.) Connect the positive from the output of the 1st BEC to Pin 1 2.) Connect the positive from the output of the 2nd BEC to Pin 3 3.) Connect the positive to the RECEIVER from pin 2 4.) Connect all the black (negatives) together.

By the way, I will use two of these Megabec8 on my new "investment" the : Trex700e
Glue them on to a ant-vibration support this Schottky diod. Understand that this diod can give a ~0.20 voltage drop, ~5.8v would be perfect!

Will this still work if the voltage drops to 6.2 volts? I'm thinking of using it with a LiFe 2S to regulate down to 5.0 volts.
Thanks,

It is a voltage regulator... converts 8.4 v to 6 volts for your receiver and servos.

You put a 2 cell LiPo battery with 7,4V on the input side. On the output side you can have 5V or 6V (depending on jumper position). You just have to solder the right plugs. The output cord supplies the energy for your receiver system. So you have a stable voltage. The 5V outlet is especially important if you use servos which can handle 4,8V only.

The output is 7.2v without a load. When plugging into the receiver, it drops to 7.0v. Switching the 5v-6v switch does nothing with the initial voltage. Is the voltage suppose to drop under load?

the input voltage is 8.4v (2S lipo)*The output voltage is 5v or 6v selectable by switch. If you have more than - 6v (something like 6.1 is aceptable) do not use them, because problably you have a defective unit.

the voltage will not drop under load uptil 5Amps. this is a heavy duty regulator. It will take the load and not drop the voltage, provided your battry supports it.

Has this BEC a reverse gear? I'm looking for a Motor Controller for a 1:10 Buggy with a load of about 4A to 10A. (Using Turnigy 5000mAh 2SP1 20c as Battery)

it is not a speed controler, it is only a voltage regulator for servos and RX (reciever) 5 or 6v output

Hi! Tis is not a ESC (speed controller) but a unit to supply power to your receiver equipment. So you cannot program it at all. It simply delivers 5V or 6V from a 2s LiPo 7,4V battery to your receiver.

I have another good use for this BEC in a HK Tx. When using 2S LiPo you don't have to worry about forgetting to turn the Tx off. It will tell you when the voltage is low and turn off when too low.

Hi, The best option is to use a hot glue (flexible/rubber paste) and transfer the minute vibration to the larger non-vibration surface.
I have pasted a foam block (cushion) of L 50mm, B30mm and T30 mm, pasted the L x B to the less vibrating surface of a 50 cc gas plane, on top of the foam used a double side sticker on foam and this unit, and then wrapped up using rubber strands. There is obselutely no vibration....please try this principle...or the method i refer..to save the capacitor. If possible i will add a diagram of the same soon. thanks and regards Rajesh N

Yes you can use a 3 cell Lipo. But do not rely on the LED then.

Yes, but on top of not using the led, this will greatly reduce its load capacity. Linear BECs transform the excessive voltage in heat and are limited by their capacity to dissipate it (hence the large heat sink). Assuming that the stated 8A is the best case scenario (2S to 6v), this BEC can dissipate (7.4v-6v)*8A=11,2W of heat. On the lower extreme, if you use it on 3s, it will handle 11,2W/(11.1v-5v)= 1.8A, which is not worth it for such a big BEC. If you need 2A or more using 3S, go for a switching BEC.
I hope this helps.

Has someone removed the heatsink from the megabec and weighted it?
|
|
|

|
Charles
(87%)
why remove the heatsink? Its integral to the proper function of the BEC. Besides this isn't made for small parkflyers. Its made for largish planes and it doesn't add much overall weight, which isn't much of a concern when putting together 60 size and larger planes.

you don't need a manual for this bec. Its very easy to use. One side is labled In and the other is labeled Out. Voltage in is 2s lipo max. LED glows bright red when your input voltage is low. Solder on your battery connector of choice and put a servo plug (if plugging this into your receiver) and you are done.
A very nice bec. I'm using one in a Hanger9 Showtime 50 E conversion and another in a Hanger 9 60 Spitfire econversion.
