question: what connector do you use from the esc to battery? ... the jst connector seems so small for the size wire on the esc. So what connector is being used between esc to battery?
skyboy (17 points) 1/01/2010
Anyone know for sure, if the BEC from 2 Plush 25a esc's can be run in parallel? I am going to connect both, via a Y connector, into a SportBEC for 6v output. Or I may just go directly into RX, undecided, any problems?

Hi, what is the difference between this "Plush" ESC anf the basic ESC? Thanks
Evgeniy (39 points) 15/09/2009
I would put in at least a 30A, with many people putting in a 40A, in a 450 size heli. Try to use a pinion that will give you 2900-3000 head speed with a throttle curve at about 90%, which is easier on the ESC.
ragamofyn (30 points) 7/07/2009
Quick question: why wouldn't people just pay a few dollars more for the 30amp? The 30amp is about $3.00 more and weighs an additional 3 grams. Is there something I'm missing?

This should be purchased as per requirement. If you require more power esc then please go. If it is not necessory then why to go for 30A and west 3 dollors?

Does anyone know where to get a PDF of the programming manual for one of these? The paper work this came with got thrown away and I don't have a programming card. Best wishes.

It is in the forum, "customer community" on the top of the page:) Go to the "product documentation" section, and you'll find it.

I just received a Turnigy Outrunner and Controller. No information was received as to how to hook-up the units. The controller wires are all red and are labeled A, B, and C. The motor wires are Red, Black and Yellow. Information would be appreciated.

Beaufighter (755 points);
A brushless motor is a triphase motor, as in no + or - wires. Just hook up the three wires, anyway you like. If motor runs backwards, change two (and only two) of the wires, and it will go the other way.

hi im just connecting the esc to baterry and programing card. the leds flash but thats it no selection no sound... does anybody know what is the problem?
Reply:
electrafly (102 points);
You must also plug the ESC in to a motor as well.
gokay (44 points);
ok but i saw some videos on youtube they didnt connect motor...how can i understand if the esc or program card is functioning well or not??
gokay (44 points);
i connected the motor ok but anyway i cannot program.the leds are lit as shown in the picture and not able to select anything just frozen...maybe its not compatible with this esc but it claims so i dont know...

My speed controller just beeps and beeps but won't operate the receiver or the motor. I'v e tried the programming card. does anyone have a suggestion?
Reply:
electrafly (102 points);
Try swapping the three wires going to the motor around. If you have programed the ESC with the card and have pluged it back in to the receiver and just get beeps try reversing the throttle on the transmiter.
jkjohn (3 points);
Make sure the throttle trim is right back. If it still continues to beep all the time after the initial activation and you are able to program a trim position for the throttle on your transmitter then adjust it somewhere down into the 0 to -100 range and see if it will setup properly. i.e. it may be seeing the throttle position in a too advanced position at setup time.
Straight Up (143 points);
Sounds to me like your throttle sense is backwards. This is normal for Futaba and Hitec radios. Revers your throttle channel and you should suddenly find it works.
Mcdyvie (35 points);
I second Straight Up here. Mine did exactly the same thing because my throttle was reversed on my DX6i. It would beep the number of cells, then a double beep every few seconds and the throttle would not engage. Changed throttle back to normal in the setup menu and it worked like normal. This info is also in the troubleshooting guide in the manual which comes with the ESC.
jkjohn (3 points);
If you are using Spectrum 2.4 receivers and the receiver has not recognized the transmitter then the controller will beep continuously. Check the esc lead into the receiver to make sure power is going to the receiver. Make sure the receiver is bound to the transmitter. With some models of Spektrum transmitters the model memory holds the binding information and if the wrong model is selected then the receiver will not bind and the controller beeps, check what model you have selected.

Does this esc have brake ?! The brake is that what when you stop acelerate he start brake? That is another turnigy esc that brakes when you stick down ?!
Reply:
Beaufighter (755 points);
The esc can be set up with brake, yes. This is only used for propellers (usually to fold a folding prop), NOT for car... Brake comes on when you throttle all the way down.

I puchased an TR 28-26B Turnigy motot and plan to run it with a 8X4,5 folding prop on 3 cell Lipo. How do I program the timing of my 25 amp plush esc ? Especially the timing ? low, medium high ?

Are A123's included in the Turnigy BESC programming card list? Thanks Peter

marcioh123 (97 points);
No , but it will work well configured as NIMH / LOW VOLTAGE / HARD CUT OFF . As soon as you fell loss of power , is time to the landing.
peterkortens (5 points)
Is the Turnigy 25A plush ESC suitable for use with 3s A123 battery pack?Would it match the HXT 2835 inrunner motor?
Reply:
peterkortens (5 points);
Could you please be more specific. I have used a Waypoint ESC with a LiPo default which refused to see A123's and do not want to fall into that trap again. Thanks Peter
Colin Jones (1 points);
Fully charged A123 = 3.6V* 3S = 10.8V Fully charged LiPo = 4.2V* 3S = 12.6V Discharged LiPo = 3.0V* 3S = 9.0V (underload) Discharged A123 = 2.0V* 3S = 6V (underload) So a charged 3S A123 looks like a discharged 3S Lipo or a massively overcharged 2S Lipo to the voltage detection circuits.
For my setup with 4S A123 pack (4S A123 = 3S LiPo) I had to use the Nixx setting and set the cutoff point to the 60% cutoff,highest setting, (in your case 60% of start voltage = 6.5V). If I used the Lipo settings, the cutoff point would be too high for the A123s, get about 1 minute flying before motor turned off instead of 6 minutes at the NiCd setting. Works well like this.
Super ESC for the price. I'm using it on the 1m wingspan 3D foamie. It pulls about 15A and the ESC is ice cold! I have 4x1,5kg micro servos installed(2 of them are digital) and I'm using the internal BEC of the ESC, my flying stile is rather violent 3D and I have had no problems so far with 3 cells. It has very easy and fast programming. Once I was flying on the morning, I landed on the wet grass, guess the ESC got little wet and on the next flight the motor stopped in the air. I used a hot air fan and dried the esc- it's working again. Only bad thing is that when Brakes are in use the motor starts a little slower and it's not so good for 3D. But as long as the prop is running there is no problem.

OEMRC ESC

I have 2 of them, one labelled "hobbywing" and the other "OEMRC". They're definitely the same, same prog card, same functions and same music. Throttle response is very linear, from 0 to full gas with plenty of steps (at least one for every dent in my gast stick ratchet).
- Programmable timing, hard medium and low. - Programmable startup mode. - The feature I love most is the cut off, it can be programmed to be simply a motor power reduction instead of a power off. You can safely land with that feature - An other interesting feature is the cut off voltage selection, I don't want to stress my lipos so I always set it to the maximum (conservative) value.
I successfully used this ESC with: - KDA22-20L OK - KDA36-28S OK - KDA22-15M OK - KDA20-22L OK - Other TowerPro
Even with KDA36-28S, 10x5 APC-E and 4 HXT900 servos, the ESC comes down cold.
Great buy. 5 stars. 10 stars for the price! -)

TURNIGY Plush 25a Great ESC!

This is a fantastic ESC! Lots of programming options and the instructions were suprisingly GOOD (way way way better than some of the Esky products I'be bought in the past)
I installed the hacker Style Brushless Outrunner 20-22L from hobbycity using the GWS (GWEMM28TS) motor mount and the Turnigy Plush 25A ESC on on my 21oz flightflex Yak 55.
I am running a 11x4.7 prop and an ElectriFly 1500mah 3S Lipo in my 21oz FlightFlex Yak 55.
I fly without the motor shroud on my Yak, and leave the zipper compartment where all the radio gear goes slightly unzipped to try to allow some air flow. As such, the Motor and ESC get warm to the touch, but never HOT, and seem to cool to room temperature after no more than 5-10 minutes.
I'm running four Futable 3114s and a big old 7 channel FM receiver off the ESC. No glitches or issues with overheating or failures on the 2A BEC. (My ElectriFly 35a Brushed ESC only had a 1.5A BEC)
I'll be buying another one of these for my next plane. Great value.

Verwende diesen Regler in Verbindung mit dem Brushless Outrunner KD A22-20L in meiem Easy Glider von Multiplex. Li-Poly 1500mAh 3S1P 20C. Der Segler steigt damit fast senkrecht. Dieser Antriebsstrang ist nicht nur gьnstiger als der von Multiplex, sondern auch besser! Klasse Regler- besitze deshalb inzwischen mehrere davon!

Turnigy 25 A ESC

The newer version includes another plug which will connect to the charge port of your Lipo for pack monitoring (low voltage protection). This is not shown in the photo. It is not mandatory to connect this. Unfortunately I cannot use these in my GWS 38 due to the size and extra . I will reserve this pair for other projects or replacement in existing planes. The photo should be updated, as the extra wiring causes more space limitations and should not be cut off.

For the money! Great little thing. I am running off 3S A123 cells on a HXT 2835 (380S) 2200kv swinging a 6X4E APC. Not even a little warm. Yes the arming sound is a little funny =). With the card it is by far the easiest ESC to program. For the money I am ecstatic.

This is a great ESC and an absolute great bargain! I load tested a full 10 minutes on a HXT 2200MaH D9 Lipo with a 10x8E Master Airscrew prop and speed controller was only slightly warm to the touch. I've since have over 30 flight with 4 servo's on my Extra 260 with no malfunction whatso ever. I'' never buy another over priced ESC ! These are worth the short wait.

This esc is really good. Compared to other china-made esc is really much better. Lots of very useful programmable options. Better throttle curve etc.
On the other hand it has a little problematic startup with my motor POT 200W. I tried every possible setting, but even with the one with best results i crashed due to the fact that motor went out of synchronism with esc. Czech made esc i used before were always ok.

Bisher keinerlei Probleme. Kann hierzu unbedingt die Programmierkarte empfehlen.

Checked out the OEMRC 25amp speed controller and found it to be extreemly easy to use, I plugged everthing in, at first try nothing happened untill I reversed the throttle setting and the prop rotation, than it worked flawlessly with very precise control. The unit was tried on a HXT2835 with a 6X4 prop on 3c Li-Po and was completely cool after the run. Excellent control at excellent value.

Looks nice, professional finish. Smoth throttling, runs well on a E-flite park 480 outrunner. Has a bitt slow startup from a standstill, but with disabeled brake it's nice even for 3D. And with the price, it's definently a 5 star!
