I used this motor with the recommended 12A TowerPro ESC and a Hextronic 2200mah 20-32 C battery, after about 20min of flight the ESC got to hot and the solder on it melted resulting in a short and it catching fire. So I have a spare 40A Mystery ESC, but do not want to burn out this motor. It was getting pretty hot even with the 12A ESC, could not tough it without getting burnt.

So now* is it alright to use this setup or do I have to go back to using "smaller" batteries with lower capacity.

Did a little test,
Got 8.9A at 11.8 volts so = 105W (constant)
with a 1300mah 15C 3S lipo and the same for a 2200mah 20C 3S lipo,

used 30A ESP and a APC8X6E prop.
motor still got pretty hot though.

What props do you use on a 2S 10x4.7 seems a bit big?

How much does this motor weigh? Can we have some pictures of the back so I know what kind of mount it requires? Having a link to the proper mount would be great.

does this come with the mount
  Reply:  Jon (13 points);
no it does not look like it comes with a mount. This motor mounts behind a firewall, and the shaft pokes through a hole in the firewall. It can easily go in place of a brushed motor.
