Ran on a full 2S pack for 30-40mins no problems.

Just tested on almost full 2S (7.94V)
No smoke came out + it worked well (fast)
No long term data at this stage.

I looked at the pcb of my dead servo to figure out the used parts.
A HT7144-1 (4,4V regulator from max input of 24V) powers a PIC16F676 which is driving a AP9930GM 2n 2p Channel Powermosfet.
Sadly i'm not really in with h-bridges and mosfets therefore i can't tell weather this IC can operate at 2s lipo without takeing damage.
It would be nice, if someone with more knownledge could look in the Datasheet and of the mosfet and try to figure out more details.

Is it possible to power these servos directly with 2s Lipos ? (that means more than 8V at beginning)

This is a good question. I try to figure out that, too. Sadly one of mine built in Servos died just a week ago and i don't know exactly why, might be the temperature (about -5C) or the Voltage (about 7,5 V).
I just can't an answer to this question, therefore i hook up with your question:
Has anyone experiences with the hxt directly connected to 2s Lipo?

I have 2 of these. Cant seem to get either one to work very well. They seem to be really slow. I am using them in a 1/10th scale electric truck. Any help would be appreciated. oh by the way i am new to r/c hobby

I've just installed 7 of these in a 25% Yak 54 and I'm getting a lot of glitch from them. I'm force to route the Rx antenna far from the servos because as soon as the antenna is less than 3 inches from a servo or servo lead, I'm getting glitches. Does someone else got a problem like that or know a solution for it?

I use these servos in a 120 size tiger moth and they are overkill! You could use them in a 50 heli without any problems, but you may not need to put in such a powerful unit (the 7kg) servo should be fine on 6v. Just remember that these servos will add more weight to you aircraft as they are a fair bit heavier than the 6.9kg plastic geared models.
I'm using Towerpro MG946R 12kg High Torque Servo and HXT 10kg Servo (metal gear), both of the servos not working with Y connector. I connect 2 Towerpro servo to Y connector and its doesn't work, when I reconnect one of them, the second one Work. Same scenario with HXT servo. I also replace receiver and Y connector, still got the same problem. When I connect 1 Futaba servo and 1 HXT / Towerpro servo to same Y connector its working. The problem occur only when I connect 2 HXT servo or 2 Towerpro servo to Y connector.
Any one familiar with this scenario / problem ?
Thanks

just a thought but these servos are drawing more than your y harness can handle or its your reciver thats not putting enuf current out per channel. good luck!

It's better take care of this arms... or the servo will be lost becouse don't come with replacement.... afff.... Any other kind of arm could be used? These arms fits on futaba or hitec?
Electrical measurements done : @4.8V Idle current below 20 mA Average current 650 mA Stall Current 1300 mA
@6V Idle current below 20 mA Average current 1000 mA Stall Current 2000 mA
Those are measurement data and cannot be considered as specification.
These servo are requesting high current. So please use correct power supply to power them. A 3A BEC cannot power more than 2/3 of these servo without danger. Use 8A BEC instead, see Assan BIG BOSS 1 UBEC 8-12A.
Really a nice servo.

For it's price - 5 stars definitely! It's very strong and fast enough. We have used a lot of this servos in our club for RC-cars from 10 to 6-th scale - it's good! I have it on my truggy and monster - its great for steering, and hard brakes. Several tips to use it on the cars with satisfaction - 1) If you think, that it's slow or not as precise as it must be - check your onboard battery and switch. This servo requires big peak currents. But average current - not so big, usual for digital servos. 2) Because of (1) - never use use cartridges for onboard accus, which usually comes with RTR cars, cells should be welded or soldered. Use high current NiCd or NiMh. 3) If your switch is OK, plug it's lead not in the "Power" connector of the receiver, but in free 3-d channel, or through good Y-cable to any channel of the receiver. "Power" input very often contain some BEC circuit - it reduce current from batteries very much, it makes this servo work slower, even cause some "glitches". Of course, this only valid for cars receivers. 4) If you going to use it for hard off-road racing in wet or snow weather - you must protect it from water. Servo contain powerfull FETs inside. You need to protect the cirquit board or whole servo from water. It's easy to do by clear paint, which is usually used for protection after painting of the cars lexan bodies. Or you may use other varnish for. Also put some silicone grease below the top bearing of the output shaft. I hope, this tips could hel

I've been using these servos for a couple of years now and have found them to be unstoppable! Must use heavy duty extension leads otherwise servos will jitter uncontrollably! Best on 6 Volt! Idle current-20ma, Average current 1000ma , Stall current- 2000ma. These are my test figures and show that they require a good current flow, which is why the heavy duty leads are a must.

Use the UH 5A ubec with a output of 6v. the servo will be very fast and strong, with no tendency to oscillate. I´m using them in a CAP 232 25% 13pound. And they goes like second to none.

I have used this same servo in everything I have owned for the last 4 years. and have really put them to the test. and in all that time only one has gone bad, and I'm not really sure if it was the servo or the sever abuse that I have put them through. Even so I'm very pleased with the way they last for me.

These are great servos for general use. They're a little sloppy and overshoot the neutral position on occassion. I would not use them for air competition or precise maneuvering. However, they're great for my 81" J-3 Cub. More than enough torque with no stall.
I'm using this servo in a Hobao Hyper 7.5 for steering. previously I would always strip the gears when I would stuff up a jump and do a cartwheel, with this new servo I've done plenty of cartwheels and the servo is still going strong.
The only reason i have given it 4 stars is because i tried to use it for throttle/brake, but it seemed to get too warm and then wouldn't respond to controls.

Perfect Servos! The Gear is in full Metal and Ball bearing. I have now gained several these servomechanism for itself and friends. All have had a great run out of them in both aircraft and gas cars. Want all recommend them, more so on such price.

Servo is well built. Inside the control board is comprised of SMT components and the main IC is bare die on board. This helps reduce costs.
Although this servo is strong and has very little backlash, the control electronics are not as finely tuned as they should be. The servo will oscillate around a new position momentarily before settling down. (think of an underdamped spring plot). This is very noticeable during quick movements.

Strong servo

Very strong! I am using them on a 36" combat wing. I was stripping aileron servos like HS-81 regularly when crashing, but no more problems after changing to these servos.
This is one powerful servo! I got some for my 120 size tiger moth and couldn't be happier. All three servos I bought tested perfectly out of the packet.
Massive torque is probably overkill in all but the largest planes, but at around $2 more than the 6.9kg servo, why wouldn't you trade up? Highly recommended.
good quality and very strong servo given the low price. not so acurate centering. Cannot use 2 of these on a Y lead, they jitter and do not work properly.
