What balancing connectors does this unit use ?
I use Zippy and Turnigy Batteries.
Thanks for a reply, walter
   magnusEl (80%)
It is using JST-XH, so your batterys do fit without adapter.

yes for Zippy and Turnigy! all balancer conector with JST. Thanks
   SBLT Mark (100%)
Yeah I use Zippy and its fine. It uses the standard white connectors, not sure what they're called. It has plugs for 2 - 6 cell batteries
   WRX _STI (100%)
they will work with your packs
   Patrick (100%)
Both Zippy and Turnigy connectors fit. Thunderpower doesn't.
   catlord (100%)
Hi, the connector is the standard one: small with conector (molex style)

I have the Hobby King medic 6s but can not connect my Thunder Power, 2s and 4s batteries to it. I am using a Hyperion 0651 charger, it there an adapter for the thunder power batteries to connect to the Medic. thanks for your help.
   magnusEl (80%)
This one: ***********hobbycity****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9918&Product_Name=Male_JST-XH_<->_Female_Thunderpower_4S_5cm_(5pcs/bag)
I think is the right for you. The spec says male JST-XH, but the picture is of female JST-XH.
The 2s version is out off stock...

Try with a lipo charge lead adapter. you can buy them here on HK!
   francis3333 (45%)
oni manage to use it for balancing about 10 packs .... then suddenly the balance button can be press ,,,, later after it went TOTALLY DEAD!!!!! return it for claim IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE ...SO DONT BUY!!!!!!
   Buena ricos (92%)
Based on what you have described I would take a look at this. TP Adapter Coversion Board W/ Quattro 4x6S Charger plug. It appears to have the proper connection from the board to your Medic that your Thunder Power (TP) batteries can connect to.
   Master_22 (20%)
no problem

Does this unit have variable discharge rate (for discharging), or does it just use the "bleed current" (for balancing) for discharging as well?
   francis3333 (45%)
i oni manage to use it for balancing about 10 packs .... then suddenly the balance button can be press ,,,, later after it went TOTALLY DEAD!!!!! return it for claim IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE ...SO DONT BUY!!!!!!
   Buena ricos (92%)
It appears to use the same rate for both balancing and discharge rates.
   Thomas (74%)
The discharge rate is fixed, but you can set what voltage you'd like to discharge to. It just bleeds current for both discharging and balancing. For balancing, it bleeds from the high cells. For discharging, it bleeds at an even rate from all cells.

Robert (34%)
Will this unit work with the CY-B6 balancer connector?
   rulcy (47%)
Hi Robert,

Looks to me the main connector to CY-B6 balancer connector does not support on this unit. All it has is balancer plug varies from 2s-6s. Just take the balance adapter attached on your battery and plug it in. Its not advisable to balance/discharge 2 batteries at the same time
   Couto (13%)
Can you be more specific about CY-B6 balancer connector?
18/01/2010
mr.sneezy (54%)
Can somebody technically minded measure idle current draw for us when it's finished balancing ?
i.e. Put current meter between ground pin on a pack and the MKS unit. Important if left connected overnight or two (as I would).
18/01/2010
mr.sneezy (54%)
Is this safe to leave connected overnight ? e.g. Will it flatten the pack after balancing if you don't remove it within a day ?
   nioa2 (70%)
I discharged a small pack (1050 mAh) overnight. The discharge cutoff was set to 3.8 volts (It only takes a few hours to bring a pack of this size to 3.8 volts, so this experience may answer your question). The battery voltage was 3.77 volts. This means that the power the device uses after the discharge cycle ends is VERY small.
   Couto (13%)
No! is not safe leave connect overnight.
   catlord (100%)
it is NEVER a good idea to let your LiPo alone while charging/balancing. some people lost their house like this :/ If you have a small short circuit you can put the fire to the LiPo and everything around it :/

It is cheaper than the other brand and serve me similar purpose. It comes handy for those who fly EP.

wim verleyen (53%)
What's the difference between this one and the MKS-version on the previous page?
   GreaseMonkey (83%)
This product is an OEM, so it may come on different names, the main point is that it has the same physical functions.
   magnusEl (80%)

No difference, this is a replacement. The MKS is discontinued.

Can it balance two 3S packs at the same time?Has it the same features like CY- B6 plus balancer?

systemspecialis (63%)
What does this do better than my i-charger (balance charger). Why should I buy this???
   CemNi (34%)
With this item you can balance and discharge INDIVIDUAL cells in your lipo batteries, not total of cells.
   Couto (13%)
You can use it in the field.
   Thomas (74%)
It is simple, affordable, and it works very well.

Here is a LINK for a review [URL="***********rcgroups****/forums/showthread.php?t=1009719"LINK[/URL]

BTW, this stuff is an OEM so they may be some other companies rebrand this stuff to other name but functions are the same.

Its also being used in airsoft application. Check the link below

IM A LITTLE CONFUSED THE TOP SAYS 2-6 CELL BUT AT THE BOTTOM IT SAYS NOT MORE THAN 11.1 VOLT BOTH CANT BE RIGHT.
   mvaccarouy (85%)
11.1 is through the jst port... it has extra balance ports for 6s 5s 4s 3s and 2s
16/11/2009
ALAN (34%)
Does it give a readout of each cell voltage while charging?
   bastelspezi (53%)
i dont think i will ever charge anything.
discharge only
   magnusEl (80%)

Yes it show each cell individual.
bastelspezi: It is possible to balance cells whith this device, at the same time as you charge the battery...

Magnus
   CemNi (34%)
This item DOES NOT charge but yes you can see and also balance each cell while charging with another charger.
   speed freek (80%)
yes it dus
   Thomas (74%)
Yes it does.
   Turbobeaver (97%)
No,this unit does NOT charge your batteries. It works entirely independant of your charger. What it does do is monitor and balance out the voltage going into the various cells to prevent any one cell in the pack from being over charged. In the discharge mode,it does the same thing as well but in reverse. As the voltage drops,it makes sure that all cells are discharging evenly. All balancing/discharging is done through the batteries(lipo's)balance tap on this unit, not through the batteries power connector. The batteries power connector does not make any physical connection to this unit.In the charge mode the batteries power connector(deans etc.)is plugged into your battery charger(Triton 2,etc.) and then the batteries balance tap is plugged into the appropriate matching balance port(2S,3S,etc.)on the Battery Medic.Great for all those chargers that don't have balancing capabilities.

AARON (34%)
is it just for batts with a jst connector? if it connects thru the balance tap what adapters are needed?
11/11/2009
ALAN (34%)
Can this unit be used between your charger and battery so as to charge/balance each cell?If not,do you have a product that does with the features of this one?
   bronya (84%)
Not between. Connect battery power plug to charger, connect this unit to balance plug and start charge. This unit balance each cell during the charge. Simple.
   GGabor (36%)
Are you sure that it can be used for balancing during the charge? Have you tried it?
   GreaseMonkey (83%)
it can be use in between (wall lipoly charger+this stuff+battery). Balancing is not done simultaneously with charging....
   mvaccarouy (85%)
this doesn't go in between.... and you do balance while charging.... The charger charges through the discharge lead of the battery and the balancer discharges each cell individually through the balance connector
   GGabor (36%)
Thanks very much! Meanwhile it arrived and really works as it should be. Eg.: balance while the charger charges.

thanks again,
Gabor
   Mike (30%)
Still not sure how I use it. I have an Onyx 230 charger. I'm assuming that I place the batt on the charger, and at the same time, connect the balancer, this. I'm just trying to confirm that that is what I do to balance my LiPo.
   Turbobeaver (97%)
That's correct Mike.Your on the right path.Make sure you make all your connections before powering up your batteries charger.Less chance of accidentally shorting something and possibly damaging it.

v_b (24%)
Can it work like a balancer while charging the battery with a charger that have no balancing function?
   bronya (84%)
Yes, it can.
   v_b (24%)
Thanx
   Thomas (74%)
Yes, that is how I use it. I use a high amperage, low cost charger, and then use this unit to balance the pack while it is charging. However, it balances most effectively whenever the charge current is low, or the battery is not being charged if the cells are far out of balance.

bronya (84%)
Looks like it's the same as "MKS 3in1 Balance/Discharger System 6S"
***********hobbycity****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6748&Product_Name=MKS_3in1_Balance/Discharger_System_6S
But cheaper
   Thomas (74%)
It is the same unit. The MKS name has just been phased out. I own both units.
